Vehicle Detail
I'm selling this Corvair for my Dad, who is not internet-savvy. I'm in Colorado and I'm going to try to sell this Minnesota classic remotely. Dad has last registration but can't find the title and may not be able to. Dad drove it off and on for a while, then he flooded it, and the engine got almost immediately stuck, so we pushed it into the quonset in 1971. When we were trying to move it, the Corvair rolled a few feet backwards into a tree stump, bending the rear bumper inwards and dinging the sheet metal above that, which you can see in the photos. Dad moved into town recently and now little brother owns the home place. He is a busy young man but managed to take these photos in the dark. We'd like to get rid of this Corvair and get it into the hands of someone who can and will restore it, rather than just collect something like $300 for its scrap metal value. It looks like it might come with some surprise additional spare parts. This building has kept the car cool, dark, and dry for 40 years, and as you can see there is either no rust or very little. You can ask for more photos, but my brother will have to be convinced that there's some serious interest. Our Dad will show up to sign title over to buyer (if we find it) for cash or cashier's check. I am working with Motor Vehicle department to find out how we can get a duplicate title. Stay tuned for more info as I receive it. The weather is getting better by the week all over the US, so make a bid, buy this old beauty, and come get it. Also, Dad just notified me that he has another whole engine for this car in his big building, plus more cylinder heads. On Mar-31-11 at 10:46:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Latest news is that Dad is working with DMV to get either title or some other official document they mentioned whose purpose is just to allow him to sell it and the buyer to have easy access to a title in any US State - probably even Canada, but I'm not certain about that yet. We're still talking on the phone daily. Also, it's a 4-speed manual. I'm asking little brother to go out to the shed to see why no shift lever is visible in the pics he took. Also also, I added another photo - one I took myself in October of 2007 I believe (before brother cleaned off some wood trim and molding pieces from the top of the car). I'm trying to show the bends and dings that are on the driver's side of the car. My original photo #14 doesn't do a good enough job of showing this, and in fact I'm trying to get my brother to take the best photos he can of the driver's side front fender, where there is damage around the fuel door and straight down the fender below that. All of this on the driver's side was there when Dad bought the car, so he doesn't know what happened. Ask questions, please, and I'll try to answer. Thanks for looking. On Apr-02-11 at 14:07:42 PDT, seller added the following information: More news: DAD HAS THE TITLE. In 1971 Minnesota used the registration as a Title also. I added photos that show the number side of the registration and the back, where car can be signed over to a buyer. A photo of the body tag is also now in the photo gallery. Also there are now photos that show the shift lever and the damage to the driver's side front fender.
