Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Produced only from 1954-1955, the MG TF is arguably the most collectible of the T-series of MG cars owing to their relatively limited production, and their larger, more powerful 1500CC engine. This car is nearing the end of a complete “frame-off” restoration having been disassembled right down to the last nut and bolt. It is finished in its original color of Red, and still has its original numbers matching engine and frame. The sheet metal appears to be original and completely rust-free. There is no evidence of repairs or patch-panels anywhere on the car. The paint on it is absolutely beautiful – far better than when new. The chrome bumpers and hardware are new items from Moss Motors. The chassis and all related components were stripped to bare metal and either powder coated or painted. The suspension is completely rebuilt. All consumables were sourced from companies such as Moss Motors. As with the body, there is no evidence of rust repair or collision damage on the chassis, and as with the body, the chassis looks far better than it did when the car was new. Four new wheels and tires have been installed along with a fifth new matching spare tire and wheel. The drive train was rebuilt although I do not have receipts for this. The interior has yet to be completed, but this allows for easy examination of the structural wood which is in excellent condition and believed to be original. The car is nearing completion, and many of the parts that are needed are included with the sale of the car. I’m limited to 24 pictures on ebay, but I have 18 additional pictures of all of the additional parts that are included with the car, and I’m happy to e-mail them to any interested party. Some of the parts that are not pictured, but are included in the sale of the car are: Inner fender vents (painted and ready to install), license plate bracket (painted and ready to install), transmission / driveshaft tunnel (painted and ready to install), running board trim (original), grille slats, wooden floor baords (new, but not sure if complete), engine crank, seat frames (original), seat tracks, tank straps, steering column, steering wheel (new, British made), brake lines & fuel lines (new), starter, generator, spare wheel and tire (new), many other miscellaneous parts. There are however some parts that are not included simply because I don’t have them. These include the gas tank, gauges, wiring harness, carburetors, door handles, hood latches, and upholstery. I’m sure that there are other minor items that are missing that I’m not aware of. All of the hard work is done. If you complete the restoration to the same standards that have been applied thus far, you can’t help but have one of the finest MG TFs in existence. I have a clear title for the car, and the sale will also include an original Workshop Manual (not a reproduction), and original Operation Manual (not a reproduction), photos of the vehicle completely stripped, and photos of the vehicle as it was being reassembled. The car is available for inspection by calling 516-524-4102, and I’m also happy to assist with shipping. On Mar-30-11 at 07:05:21 PDT, seller added the following information: I've received a lot of questions as to whether the engine is in the car. THE ENGINE IS IN THE CAR. The engine, transmission, driveshaft and rear axle are all installed.
