Time to sell my noble steed, I have driven this truck for almost 200,000 highway miles in the past 20 months as part of my coast to coast delivery business, It took me along time to find a truck with this configuration (Long Bed, 2 WD, Extended Cab, Large 5.3 V8, HD 3.73 Rear Axle, Limited Slip Rear, Transmission cooler, HD Radio, Cruise Control, Light duty tow package) which makes it ideal for long distance towing up to 6500 lbs. This is the heaviest duty regular 1500 work Truck made and it has never let me down. I have recently returned from a complete circum-navigation of the country(NC to Florida to San Diego, to Northern Ca to Northern Maine to NC) about 1 week ago so this truck can be driven home anywhere. I bought it with 70,000 miles, and the only thing I have done (other than 3000 mile oil changes) was replace the transmission at 125,000 miles with a rebuilt unit. These trucks regularly travel from 350,000 miles- 500,000 miles with regular service (my last truck with a similar configuration is still running strong at 380,000 miles which is a testament to Mobil 1 Oil changes at regular intervals) As with anything that has seen this much use, the truck does have some character, most notably: ++ engine does have a lifter noise, it has been there for the past 40,000 miles. I was told by my mechanics that this happens when the hydraulic lifter springs a small leak and looses pressure. The noise comes and goes as the lifter is pumped up and looses pressure. Also I have been told that this is rarely fatal to the engine and it can be driven this way as I have done under load for the past 40,000 miles. The job to replace the lifter ranges from $900 (dealer) to $600.- I have used Mobil 1 10-40 at 5000 mile intervals ++ Tailgate was dented by my trailers jack and is hard to open, The handle no longer works and the hinges are bent but the tailgate still closes. ++ There is a dent on the lower right side that was there when I bought it, ++ It is missing one of the chrome wheel covers ++ There is a tear on the drivers seat ++ The carpet behind the center seat section has come away ++ Drivers seat belt doesn't retract, and sometimes gets caught in the door when opening. ++ missing the jack handle and the under bed tire winch doesn't work ++ Mounted tires are winter snow tires and have 4/32nd - 8/32 tread left (I mix P rated tires on the front with LT rated tires in the back for my business) With the Buy it Now I will include a bunch of accessories, I have a ladder rack which was used once Cost $350, I have a full set of summer tires (3 x P rated, and 2 x LT rated) used 1 season only (cost $400) These can be negotiated for an extra price if the buy it now is not used I am still using this vehicle for deliveries during the auction so the mileage may vary a bit
