Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my mildly customized, 1963 Ford Fairlane Squire Station Wagon. It looks fantastic, drives, handles, and stops perfectly, and is unparalleled as an attention-getter. You can't find a more iconic "old school" automobile than this 'woody wagon'. There were just fewer than 8000 of these produced in '63 and I swear I've been approached by that many people at gas stations, parking lots, cruise nights, etc. who claim to have either owned or knew someone who owned one of them. What makes this car even more attractive is the modifications to it's appearance: The tinted windows, lowered stance, and after-market tires/wheels really make this a stand-out! Exterior: Wimbledon White re-paint with woodgrain panels/trim. The paint isn't new but is still nice with a few very small chips. The woodgrain has some minor fading here and there and some peeling around the gas cap. The trim around the woodgrain is painted in a beige color and wasn't done all that well. It's very presentable but there are a spot or two of orange peel/cracking. The bumpers will need to be re-chromed. The luggage rack is in perfect condition as is the glass. The rear window works with a switch on the dash. Overall, this is a ten-footer. There are no rust issues with this car. Minor surface rust on undercarriage. I had it professionally appraised prior to purchasing it and the only rust mentioned was a small amount on the driver side floor pan. It has been garage-kept while I've owned it and not driven in winter/bad weather. Interior: Tan tweed bench seat and door panels are in good shape with no tears or stains. Carpeting throughout car is in great shape, also. Rear seats fold down and the third seat is accessible but I think the upholstery is missing or maybe it never had cushioning(?). Headliner is perfect. Spare tire and it's compartment are perfect. After-market LeCarra steering wheel. The glove box area has a dent and a scratch in the paint. The aluminum trim on the dash shows some wear. The original AM radio is present but the previous owner put a cheap CD/radio in the glove box and connected it to the original dash speaker. CD player not working right now and haven't made the effort to diagnose problem. Don't know if the radio in the dash works but, if I were keeping the car, I think I would do my best to get it back working and install another option for modern sound. Drivetrain: Mileage shown is on the aftermarket engine (built 302) and the rebuilt C-4 transmission. Magna-Flow mufflers give it a nice throaty note. It is powerful whenever you need it and cruises very nicely. It has manual steering and your forearms get a workout if you're turning this bad boy but, so long as it's moving when you're turning, you're OK. There have never been any leaks evident on my garage floor underneath this car in the three years that I've owned it. Wheels/Suspension: Drop spindles give this it's awesome stance and it's beautiful handling around corners. American Racing Torq Thrusts wheels and low-profile tires contribute to it's look/performance, too. Not much tread left on the tires so they'll be needing replacing soon. Finally, this car drives very nicely and stops well, also. No noises, rattles, shakes or shimmys. The "coolness factor" here is off the charts and you'll be one of the stars at virtually any cruise night or car show. To be perfect, the bumpers would need re-chroming, woodgrain and it's trim would need to be repainted or replaced, and the sound system would need to be modernized. None of these things have kept me from enjoying the heck out of owning/driving this car and they won't be a problem for you, either. I just mention them in the spirit of transparency. This car is sold "as is". It is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells in that manner.
