Vehicle Detail
If you are looking for an affordable 914 to drive, tinker with, and enjoy, this is the one! I purchased the vehicle in Jan 2008 from the previous owner in Connecticut who had it for 17 years. The car had been sitting for some time and was not running. I have subsequently spent many hours painstakingly restoring the car to life, including removing the dual Weber carbs and rebuilding the entire factory fuel injection system, and replacing the the first gear slider ($525). The good news is that the car now starts and runs extremely well and is an absolute joy to drive. The tires are excellent and all the lights are working. The car is registered as an antique vehicle in Virginia and I routinely take it out on the road. The interior of the vehicle is in good shape with the original seats and and uncracked dash. It also has the original speakers and the optional guages. The odometer stopped working at 88K, but the trip meter still works. Of course being a New England vehicle for so many years the car has rust on the underbody, but it is structurally sound and the paint is in good shape. The car has stainless steel heat exchangers and the Monza style exhaust system gives the car a nice enjoyable growl while you are driving it. I replaced the engine mounts and all the engine mounting hardware so the engine is well secured. You can fly in, pick up the car and drive it home with confidence. On Apr-01-11 at 05:24:26 PDT, seller added the following information: due to popular demand and for you serious bidders, I am going to add some more pictures of the underbody. There is significant deterioration of the underbody, including two place where a patch has been applied. If you are looking for a rust-free car, this is NOT the vehicle for you. If you are looking for an affordable 914 that you can DRIVE, this is the car for you. I am available today to answer questions or show the car. please do not ask me to sell it outside the auction. This car needs a good home and I want the ultimate buyer to understand what they are buying. I had the underbody looked at by a professional and he said it definitely could be repaired and all the sheet metal is readily available, but the labor would be more than I am willing to invest. His advice: drive the car and enjoy it!! Fortunately for me, due to unforseen events, I am able to move on to a 911 so I have to let my baby go. Mark 571 214 9052
