This Mercedes Benz had a window sticker of over $82,000 when new. The 1992 S Class was six years in creation and the first redesign of the super sedan series in 12 years. So, you are getting the first year of this new body style. Some may call it arrogant or excessive, but I call it just right! This redesign of the S Class offers wider, taller and roomier sedans. They are also shorter, more streamlined and noticeably plainer. This visual restraint was achieved by reducing the amount of chrome and external trim while softening the edges and angles so typically Mercedes. Even the radiator grille is smaller with this year, set flush with the lowered nose of the car and ranked gently to the rear. This 400 SE has a 4.2 liter V8 Engine, and was considered the pick of the liter within the S Class. This sedan offers whispering performance and elegant travel. Auntie and her bottle of Chablis getting baked in the back seats? Another button raises a mesh sunscreen to block rays through the rear window. The front armchairs have bun warmers, orthopedic backrests and 12-way power adjustments. Also, three memories of seat positions for foolish folk who might allow someone other than the owner and a constant companion to drive. The air-conditioning system is automatic with dual controls and thermostats for front riders, with the option of a second set of split climate controls for back seaters. The 11 speakers of the Bose Beta sound system are balanced to present identical sound levels to all four corners. Side glass is double insulated--just like the storm windows of our frozen adolescence--to keep climate in and noises out. There's a driver's side air bag, of course, also a passenger's side air pillow installed in the dash without losing the glove box. EXTERIOR: The Exterior of this Mercedes Benz is just Awesome! It is a Bright Silver Color. The Paint is in overall Excellent Condition. I do not see any indications of paint or body work and the Carfax is clean and clear, too. The Bright Silver Body Exterior combines with Black Leather Interior which is a really nice color combination. This car looks sharp and turns heads. Overall, the outside of this car is just great, and is in much better condition than I would expect for a 1992 model! The outside body of this MB is in Great Condition. The silver paint is shiny and glossy! The overall consistency of color really adds to the appeal of this car. This Mercedes is riding on a set of beautiful alloy wheels with great condition tires. The tires are in great condition and just passed VA State Safety Inspection. This car has some very nice, luxury upgrades. The front doors are auto closing. If you click the doors closed, they will close fully on their own. When you pop the trunk, a little handle pops out that makes opening it easier. The Headlights are clear and you also get a built in license plate holder. With 03/2012 inspection, this car is ready to go! The rear of this Benz looks cool, too! The depth of the rear trunk and the bumper adds to the appeal of this sedan. You will find there is the Benz emblem in the middle. There is a stationary antennae on the roof. There is a built in license plate holder here. Overall, the Exterior Condition of this car is in Excellent Condition. I do not see any indications of body work. For a vehicle of this age and mileage it looks really good. The only thing I can mention on this car is just usual light wear. You may find some typical road rash chips on the hood, a small scuff on the bumper and maybe a tiny door ding, but I did not find anything else noteworthy or obvious or atypical for the year and miles. I cannot find any noteworthy dents or scratches. This car just looks great! INTERIOR: Inside this Benz you will find to be in Great Condition. Overall, the interior looks, smells and feels just great. You will find the inside to be in near perfect, excellent, much better than average condition. The Interior is Black Leather and the dash is coordinating Black and Walnut Wood grain! This car comes with Real Wood Interior Trim, not plastic and not synthetic. All interior trim pieces, dash, and the like are a combination of wood grain and black. The seat upholstery is soft black leather. This Sedan features All Power Front Seats and Heated Front Seats. The front seats are individual sport bucket style seats. These seats are very comfortable with high backs, solid moldings, and large supportive seat bottoms. Both front seats are multi point power adjustable with power recline and Lumbar support. Both front seats are also Heated. There are controls for both front seat heat settings on the dash. Both front seats have 3 way memory settings. So, you can set your seating preferences once and always ride in the same comfort. Both front seats also power height adjustable. Even the front Head Rests are Power Adjustable. The rear set is surprisingly roomy. You can seat 3 more adults back here. There is a lot more leg and head room that I expected back there! I rode in the back seat personally and was very comfortable. There are rear passenger mirrors that flip down from the roof. This is just part of the Luxury Appeal. There is a center armrest that flips down to use as an arm rest. Open the armrest and there are 2 cup holders and some storage area. There are two lights for the rear seat passengers, one on each side pillar. The rear seat headrests will flip down automatically. There is a button on the dash, where you can flip these rear head rest down for better visibility. Behind the rear seat, in the back window area, is the First Aid Kit. There is a fully power Sunroof There is a single, overhead button that will open it completely or you can crack it to your desired partially open position. The carpets and front floor mats are also black. They are factory and in excellent condition. Even the Mercedes Benz floor mats are in near perfect condition. I notice an extra floor mat in the trunk, I assume a spare. You will not find any rips, tears, holes or burns inside this MB. The inside smells good. I do not smoke, and am allergic to smoke, and do not smell any linger smoke smell in this car. I believe this Benz to be a non smoker. There is not pet odor either. Inside this Mercedes, you will find lots of surprises and upgrades. This car is all power! Even the rear view mirror is power controlled. You will find Power Windows, Keyless Entry, Cruise Control, and more! You will find all the writing on the instrument knobs to be bright and clear. All of the digital displays are in excellent condition, too, there is no pixilation on the displays. The sound system in this Mercedes features the factory Upgrade System that sounds great! You will find this factory system to have an in trunk, 10 Disc CD Changer mounted in the trunk, this is a Factory Mercedes Changer. There is an in dash Cassette, and AM FM Radio. The radio sounds a little static. The Digital Display for the radio looks perfect. Also, in this radio display area, this MB features a Driver’s Information Center. You can monitor all sorts of data right from this display. It will calculate and display all sorts of information including, but not limited to, external temperature, miles to empty, average mpg, etc. You can also input a destination and the car will track how far/long until arrival. It is very cool and useful! There are also power door locks and remote keyless entry with integrated key fob. With this remote entry you can lock and unlock the doors. There is Cruise Control, we tested and it works perfectly. There is a stalk on the steering wheel, left side, that controls the speed control. This MB 400SE has Climate Control. This climate control can be set individually for driver and passenger side. On the front dash, there are controls where you can set the automatic climate control, or over ride that and manually adjust the heating or cooling. There is AC that blows cold and the heat is cozy. The exterior side view mirrors are also power adjustable. There are front vanity mirrors. Both mirrors are lighted. There are 4 passenger entry handles. There is a front, unused, ashtray. To the left of the steering wheel is a microphone, this appears to be an aftermarket hands free element for a cell phone. The front center console also has a padded armrest. This armrest is very think and cushy. Flip this armrest up and there is a cover storage cubby. Again, this cubby has walnut trim. The black steering wheel is leather and in excellent condition. The steering wheel is smooth and free from wear. There are two front glove boxes. There is one traditional glove box and there is a second one right above the radio. Both open with a button on the dash. The large glove box houses the owner's manual. The glove box is lockable for added safety and security. Each front door has a small storage cubby. There are also pockets on the back of each front seat for more storage area. The Overall Interior of this Car is Near Perfect. This car really Looks, Smells, and Feels Great! You may notice a little wear on the leather surfaces, but it is not rips or tears, it is just usual, very light wear. There are no rips, no holes, and no significant imperfections on the inside of this car. The passenger side seat is missing one adjustment knob cover, but it still functions easily and perfectly. Overall the Interior of this Mercedes Benz 400 SE Luxury Sedan is well equipped and in better condition than I would expect. I usually see more wear and tear on a 1992 model car. This is a great car for anyone. You may find a little usual wear, but if your expectations are realistic you will be pleasantly surprised. Driving Impressions: This Mercedes Benz drives just perfectly. This car does not drive like a normal sedan. The turbo adds a boost of driving appeal and performance that is amazing.
