Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this 1970 Plymouth Cuda' V-Code 440 Six Pack. I have owned, driven and enjoyed it for nearly 3 years. Due to economic and personal reasons I have to sell it. I had it sold to a private party, who had it inspected by a Mopar specialist, who's opinion was that the fender tag is a reproduction, the motor has been restamped to appear #'s matching (cast date correct, but the 3's are the wrong font) and that the torque boxes have been added- or replaced. Therefore it is not a blue chip investment grade car as my buyer was looking for, and he has now backed out of the sale. You be the judge as too what it's worth, the car speaks for itself as far as how nice it is. It is still a beautifully restored, and driving car, and it does not change the fact that I have to sell it- though I'm sure it's sale price will be less than I had it sold for, and the reserve reflects that as well. Unfortunately for me- The VIN# tag on the dash is an original, and the numbers are present, and appear correct on the cowl and the radiator core support. The person who restored this Cuda' sent a boat load of money on new, or NOS parts. It has been completely restored, and is a beautiful Cuda' which turns heads and gets thumbs up whenever I've had it out. The body is in fantastic shape with no rust, original Sheet metal all the way around, and no signs of rust or collision damage. The paint is very nice, but has a few spots of minor blistering due either to solvent pop, or a result of soda blasting, and not properly cleaning the metal afterwards. It has not gotten any worse in the time that I have owned it. While being restored, the Cuda' was completely rotissired, and the bottom was painted body color. The suspension was completely rebuilt, and many of the factory inspection marks were completed as original. The exhaust is correct, with mufflers and resonators, as well as the correct manifolds. The white vinyl roof is nearly perfect, and all glass and trim is in great shape. It's bumpers, tailights, and grille are also very nice. Once again, lots of attention to detail, and very nice parts were used. The engine is a fresh rebuild, runs very strong, smooth, idles great, does not overheat, and does not smoke or leak. I believe the carbs are originals, and all of the Shaker parts (except the cable) are original equipment and not cheap reproductions. Tranmission, clutch, shifter, and pistol grip are new or rebuilt as well. The intake is correct, all hoses, wires, and belts are part numbered reproductions, and electronic ignition has been added, but the orange box has been hidden under the battery tray. The brake system has also been completely gone through, and it rolls on reproduction GoodYear Polyglass GT tires, and ralleye wheels. The Cuda' goes down the road as it should, and is an absolute blast to drive. All the lights work as they should, but the tach just quit before I put it away for the winter, and the speedometer is off a bit as the wrong gear is in the transmission, the clock is not working as well. The interior is in beautiful condition. The chrome on the seat belts was even re done, as well as new webbing. All upholstery is Legendary, covers and headliner are nice and tight, the dash pad (three speaker) has been restored, and the door panels are nice except for a couple small cracks in the jambs. The trunk is very nice with an original spare, jack, and associated parts, reproduction liner. Trunk latch and side marker backs have even been replated. Once again- lots of attention to detail, and tons spent on parts. All being said- this Cuda' is a beautifully restored car, and is basically new from one end to the other. You could not even begin to restore a car to this level, or even build a clone, for what the reserve is set at. It's a trailer queen that can be driven as they should be, instead of hidden away in your garage. Any questions? Feel free to e-mail me kallen@fnbmilaca.com
