No Reserve Auction Absolute Sale (Wife said it must go) HISTORY: Hello everyone and welcome to my auction. Here's your chance to own a great example of a Southern 2 Owner 1983 Mercedes 300d (turbo). This fine example of a 300d belongs to a friend of mine, who after much debate with his wife has finally given into parting with it. This vehicle is all original, maintained, well kept, reliable and very clean being 28 years. Has original 179k and is driven daily so the mileage will go up a little. Honestly the pictures do it no justice keeping in view that it still has the original paint. My friend bought this car from the original owners about two years ago. And over the course of the last two year had the following work done to it. The car comes with service records and receipts and paper work for all of the work that he has done to it. Please note that all parts that have been replaced are original and new Mercedes parts 'not' OEM replacements. SERVICE DONE: All Fluids. Battery Transmission Lines. All belts and pulleys. Shift link bushings Wheel bearings, seals. Brand new Tires Heater pump and Heater valve. Full OEM exhaust system with Hangers. Transmission Filter and Fluid. Front Headlight Doors. Brand New OEM. Engine oil changed every 3000 miles with Mobil One Synthetic 5W 40. Radiator with thermostat, all hoses, expansion tank and cap. Valve cover set, Glow plugs, Diesel injector hoses, all diesel fuel filters, and Air cleaner bracket. Full break system service including, 4 rotors, ceramic pads, break sensors, and break master cylinder. Complete front end suspension work including upper and lower control arms, Tie rod ends, Center link and all four shocks. (Related rubber bushings were also replaced.) A/C Compressor (Harrison OEM New ), Expansion valve, Receiver drier and it has O-E R12 in the system. The exterior of the car is all original and shows up very nicely. The over all condition of the car from the outside looks to be that of a 10 year old car. There are no dents or blemishes and the paint shines up very nicely, that being said keep in mind that this is the original paint on the car. The interior is also very clean. The carpet, seats, door panels and headliner show almost no wear. The seats are very comfortable and look close to new. All power windows and the sunroof work as intended. The right side rear view mirror is also power and works as it should. The cloth seal trim around the doors shows its age and is a little faded. The read speaker matting also shows some fade due to time in the southern sun. The dash does show some cracks, but I am told is a easy cosmetic fix if you purchase a dash cover. The central door locking works when the vacuum pressure is good, but usually you have to open and lock the doors individually. The sun visors look great but the vanity mirror doors on the back side are loose. Its a inexpensive repair. The car drives straight and true. My friend has used this car as his daily driver for the last two years for a total of 14,000 miles. He has taken many a road trips in this car, the most recent one to Florida, which was about 400 miles each way. It averages about 30 to 32 mpg. The car accelerates quickly for a older diesel and he has on one or two occasions taken the car to triple digit speeds and I am told it pulled very strong.The car has a brand new Pioneer stereo system. It plays mp3's, has a USB port as well as a AUX port. The A/C blows ice cold and the heater keeps things nice and toasty. All lights and other related electronic features work. The cruise control works great and makes driving effortless. I am told that these vehicles primarily function on a vacuum system. Sometimes the car does have a slight delay in shift into second gear and I am told is due to a leak in the shift modulator. I am told that if you accelerate quickly the delay is not felt. This delay is felt less when the vacuum system is fully charged so there is a slight vacuum leak some where. My friend drives this car everyday and has learned how to 'adjust' his foot on the gas pedal when the car goes from first to second and when he drives it you can not feel the delay in second gear. I would also like to mention that the front windshield has a star on it on the lower passenger side in two places. It is not in the line of sight and if you want just ask and I can send you pictures of it. The rmp feature of the cluster does not work. Does not affect the drive ability of the car so my friend never looked into fixing it. This is pretty much all that I have been told about the vehicle. This is not a new vehicle. Please know that you are bidding on a 28 year old car that has been properly looked after and maintained by its owners. Their is allot to describe when it comes to describing a used car on eBay let alone a 28 year old one so I welcome you to ask questions prior to bidding.
