In 1975 convertible sales were low due to an increase in safety awareness along with a rise in hardtop popularity and air conditioner use. So Cadillac only ordered 14,000 convertible top mechanisms, and called the 1976 Eldorado the "Last of a magnificent breed." Cadillac was prepared to exit this market segment with a bang. The car is big with a 126.3-inch wheelbase and an 8.2-liter, 500-cid V-8 engine. Emissions requirements of the day limit the output to "only" 190 horsepower with a Rochester 4-barrel carburetor Power is transmitted through a 3-speed Hydra-matic transmission and stopping is through 4-wheel discs.
The 1976 Eldorado Convertible is a monument to the wretched excess of the 70s and it was the only convertible model produced by any of the big three that year.
Our Calumet Cream with white top Eldo has only 81,597 miles on the odometer. It comes loaded with a powerful V-8, automatic transmission, power top, steering, brakes, windows and locks.
There is a small tear in the convertible top, as seen in the photos. The arm rest on the passenger door has a crack and there are some small cracks in the dashboard. The leather interior looks good for it’s age with only normal signs of wear.
There is a small rust spot at the rear wheel and a minor scratch on the hood. The chrome is rust free with almost no signs of pitting. The tires are in good condition.
The car has been in our collection since 2007 and is running well.
