Vehicle Detail

My 64-year-old knees prevent me from completing these three Triumph roadsters. I have decided to sell everything in one lot, rather than try to part everything out one part at a time. I have spent 15 years accumulating this stuff and have reached the painful decision that my health prevents me from finishing these projects. I will try to describe at least the major items and the cars. There are far, far too many extra parts to list individually. I will refer to the Blue Car (TR3) and the Red Car (TR3) and finally the TR4. These cars are sold with a BILL OF SALE only, and the buyer must pick everything up. I am located in Central Texas about 30 miles from Waco. First, the Blue Car. This car is the best of the three, and is pretty close to being ready for repainting and reassembly. I bought the car a couple of years ago in Kentucky. The previous owner dismantled the car and removed the body from the frame, and replaced all the rusted body parts. He died before getting everything reassembled. The frame looks to have been blasted and painted. The metal is rust-free, and the floor pans and trunk, including spare tire compartment, have all been replaced. The engine came with the head removed and is not free-turning. It seems to be well-oiled, however, so it could be useable with disassembly and cleaning. However, I bought a rebuilt short block crate engine from Standard Performance in Hendersonville, North Carolina. I paid a little over $3,000.00 for the engine. The engine is still in the crate. In anticipation of dropping the rebuilt engine into the car, I bought a new set of SU carbs. Only one of the carbs has been removed from the original box, and that only for pictures. The carbs are a work of art, and the pair cost $1,500. I also bought a new gas tank for this car, although the tank that came wiht the car appears to be serviceable. All the body parts are very sound and rust-free. If I were going to finish this car, I would have each part painted in the color of choice before reassembly. The car comes with a brand new set of white side curtains and a mint NOS radiator grille. I also bought a convertible top and new floor mat. All the cockpit trim pieces are there and just need to be covered with your upholstery of choice. While the seats are included, they are very rough, and I had planned to just find a good solid used pair of seats. This car has electric overdrive fitted to the gearbox. The Red Car--This car has a lot of rust in the floor area and the cowl. I traded a Volkswagen hippie van for this car and had planned to use it as a parts car. From what I can tell, this car was raced at some point in the past. I mounted wire wheels on this car and mounted new tires and tubes. I bought a pair of NOS rocker panels but did not get around to cutting the rusted ones off and mounting rhe new ones. I have the nose piece which came with the car, with the bottom half completely cut away for racing purposes. I also bought a good nose piece which as some dents and dings which need to be work out, but it is whole and complete. The engine is probably rusted up, but the block appears to be full of old oil. While this car is rough, I believe that, with the huge collectilon of body parts listed below, the car would be worth saving. Replacement floor pan and trunk assembly would need to be purchased somewhere. At least that is what I had decided to do once I got the car home and took a good close look at it. The TR4--This is a good, solid rolling chassis and body. The convertible top with bow assembly is included. Little bit of rust in the trunk and floor pans, but by no means a rust bucket. The car comes with a fiberglass removeable hardtop. Good useable seats are included. I put a new set of BF Goodrich AT Radials on this car. I just grabbed a full set of fenders, bonnet lid and boot lid out of the mount of body parts that I have accumulated and tacked them on with fender bolts just to make up an intact car. This car will take some work but is a very do-able project which will result in a good solid classic British roadster which will turn heads. OK, now for all the spare parts I've accumulated over the years. There is an unused roll bar if you want to go racing. Also a metal removeable TR-3 Hardtop, rough but restorable. Included with the cars are four wide-mouth front grills, three in good shape, one rough but resorable with some patience, and a useable TR-4 front grille. There are three sets of top bows for TR-3 and an extra TR-4 top bow. There are two extra TR4 boot lids in good condition, and two TR4 headlight/radiator frames. There are two good boot lid luggage racks. There are four TR3 bonnet lids, three very good and one useable with work. There are three extra TR4 bonnet lids in useable condition. There are three TR4 left doors and two right doors, alll in useable condition. There are two extra TR4 left front fenders, one right rear and one left rear fender. There are three extra TR4 windshield frames, one with good glass mounted, and two additional TR4 windshields with no cracks or chips. There are at least four extra TR3 instrument panels and a couple of pair of well-used TR3 side curtains in various degrees of condition. One TR3 steering column with good wheel, plus an extra TR3 wheel and a TR4 (I think) steering wheel. There are three TR3 spare tire hatch covers, two excellent and one very rough. There are five TR3 left front fenders and three TR3 right front fenders, all in various condition, some better than others. There is one unused TR3 outer door skin, two extra TR3 right doors and useable condition, and seven left TR3 doors, four very good, two fair and one rusted out at the bottom. There are three TR4 left doors and two TR4 right doors, all useable. There are a couple of "orphan" doors, might be either MGB or Spitfire doors, a few dents but otherwise solid. There are four or five TR 3 boot lids in useable condition. There are at least three extra transmissions, couple of bell housings, a lot of brake parts, and three or four extra radiators, at least one of which is a TR4 radiator. There are a lot of extra wheels, hubcaps, instruments, chrome body trim etc etc etc. I think the above paints a pretty good picture of what is included with all this Triumph stuff. There are also two extra TR3 frames and a couple of TR4 frames, plus one or two extra front end assemblies. Also, I am including three Spitfire hoods, one of which is a stock hood, no major damage or rust, a fiberglass Spitfire SCCA racing bonnet with flared fenders and a metal racing bonnet with flared fender modifications. The two metal bonnets are in good condition, no rust and ready for prep and paint. There is just too much stuff to list completely. I have tried to hit the high points. I had big dreams for these cars but deteriorating health and bad knees just will not allow me to see the projects through. Most of the stuff is in my airport hangar (no, the red Corvair convertible is not included) while the TR4 and the extra frames are behind my home. There is no way this stuff can be delivered. The winning bidder will just have to come get it. I can help load it up, but unless you have a big semi, you will have to make three or four trips to collect it all. Feel free to call me during business hours (9-5 Central time) at my State Farm Insurance office at 24-865-5921, or e-mail me at bill.herridge.b4wn@statefarm.com if you have any questions. The winning bidder should be ready to make full payment within 48 hours. There is a lot of stuff here, and these fine old British roladsters are worth saving. Just needs to be someone younger and better health than me. Thanks for looking.
