1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SL EURO Model NO RESERVE!!!!!! Up for the auction is low mileage, 2 owner - extremely well kept, documented and rare “Gray Market” 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SL. Its desirable and rare Diamond Blue Paint shines beautifully and Powerful V8 engine purrs and runs strong as ever. What makes this SL differ from the other ones on the US roads, is that this is EUROPEAN model, featuring more powerful 5.0 liter V8 engine (more power and HP than US model 560SL), elegant European one piece square headlights, and more aesthetically appealing European short bumpers. The 500SL is also fastest production W107 SL produced!! The W107 chassis was one of the longest running production bodies in the Diamler-Benz AG's line, and W107s are extremely well built and collectable. It is also the first V8 powered two-seater to be built at the Stuttgart, Germany factory. With its rare and desirable color combination, and the fact that this is true EUROPEAN 500SL, there is not a lot of W107 SL’s like this one on the road today!! * Since this Mercedes is Imported European Model 500SL, European VIN number is not recognized by eBay, and the correct VIN# for the car is WDB1070461A021780. Title is free and clear, and it is ready to be transfered ANYWHERE in the world!!! About the car: This Mercedes was special ordered from Exclusive Prestige Imports in Dallas, Texas and imported brand new to US in 1985. I have all the documents, including original Special Order Receipt, and the bill of sale in the amount of $46,000!!!! It has only 2 owners, and its first and original owner had it until 2007. Diamond Blue (355H diamintblau) paint has a beautiful shine and luster, and it looks like the day it left the showroom floor!! Chrome is in excellent condition, it is complete and new looking, and this beautiful roadster is a head turner and conversation piece everywhere it goes. This Mercedes is very solid and rust free (please see pictures!!!). Body is in wonderful condition and it is straight as an arrow! All doors, hood, and trunk are operating with ease, and everything lines up properly. It has been always garaged, pampered and kept away from rain and bad weather. Factory VIN # stamping on the front radiator support shows originality of this car. There is not a lot of 500SL’s out there in this solid and amazingly kept and preserved condition!! It is equipped with both soft top, and the hard top! Navy Blue Soft top is in excellent condition, and it is very easy to operate. Soft top frame looks brand new, without any dirt or rust marks on it. Inside of the soft top is spotless and new looking, and rear plastic windows are clear and in excellent condition as well. All soft top mechanism’s are working properly and they are all brand new looking (please see pictures!!!). Original Hard top is also in great condition, including all the glass, and the headliner which is clean, and rips and tears free!! Another sign of originality of this beautiful car is stamping mark on the Hard Top (21780) which reflects the last 5 digits of the vehicles VIN number!!! Tires are brand new, and make this car float on the road. Original Bundt wheels are in wonderful condition as well, and they are free of any road or curb rashes! ORIGINAL Michelin spare tire is still in the trunk, and when you take a look at it, you will notice ORIGINAL green dots on both the tire and the Bundt Wheel (please see pictures), which indicates that this spare tire NEVER touched the road!!!!! -Interior Original Navy Blue interior is in excellent condition! Carpet is clean, in great shape, and its rips and tears free. Leather seats are in excellent condition, and very supportive and comfortable. This Mercedes comes with power windows, and they are working as they should! Another option that is rarely working is on many W107 SL’s is vacuum operated door locks that are working without any problems!! Everything on this car is working, from power windows, original Becker Mexico Radio to the power antenna, and its antique Whistler Radar Detector!!! It really does not get any better than this! -Engine & Transmission 5.0 Liter V8 Engine starts on the first try hot or cold, and it is strong and powerful as ever with only 99,350 miles on the odometer (only about 3,820 miles per year!!). Despite the larger 5.6 liter engine of the 560 SL, the 500 SL is recorded as being the fastest production 107 produced. The 500 SL was published by Mercedes-Benz as having 0-60 mph times of 7.4 seconds for a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph). Torque for the 500 SL is 296 lb·ft (401 N·m) at 3200 rpm and for the 560 SL 287 lb·ft (389 N·m) at 3500 rpm. Automatic Transmission shifts smoothly and effortlessly through every gear, and it makes this SL absolute joy to drive and cruise in! This German Roadster handles great at the high speeds, and it is very comfortable. Air Condition works as it should, and this car is ready for some spring topless fun!!!!
