Vehicle Detail

This car is located in San Deigo. I bought it in 1989 in Colorado. It was brokered from the estate of the original owner; a math professor at CU Boulder, in Colorado. At the time it had 81K Miles and was in good shape with original interior. Over the next four years the car was restored at a cost of roughly $16,500. Then, I completed Grad. School, got a job, started a family, and the car has been in storage since 1993. In 1999, the car was transported to San Diego. Since then I take it out about once every two months to drive around the neighborhood to check the surf; it turns heads everywhere I go. I have put less than 30miles on the car since it was completed. It still has about 81K total Miles since 1959. I will add the exact mileage and vin ASAP The car was restored “Pan Off”. The restoration goal was to retain as much of the original content at nearly every step, and complete it at the show car level. The colors are as close to original as is possible. The pan was painted with two part epoxy paint. The paint is now 15 years old, but still beautiful and the color looks vintage. It was color matched from the original in a protected area under the hood The engine was restored with as many German or OEM parts as I could find 36 horse / 1200cc and all 6 volt. The car starts easily and runs smoothly and is fun to drive. Nearly all the rubber seals are new. It has new rugs and interior rubber. The top is Black Hartz Stayfast with a wool head liner. Many of the original parts have been disassembled cleaned and powder coated. The seats and top boot are custom sewn. The interior has the original silver diamond-patterned Vinyl with pockets on the door panels. (These need further restoration). The Tomato soup color is not the original material, but was color matched to the original. The transmission is not a spit case. It is from an early Sixties car for drivability. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping Please feel free to ask questions before you bid. With a little work this could be a show car, but I no longer have the time, nor the desire to get it to that level. This vehicle is being sold as is, it is 52 years old and is a classic, as such there is no warranty, expressed written or implied. The seller’s descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be thought of as a warranty of any type. Please feel free to have the car inspected or inspect it yourself before you bid.
