Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is my own personal vehicle. I am not a dealer who buys and sells cars. This was my pet that is how I cared for it. I use it everyday for work and shopping. I am selling it because I saved my money for years and finally bought a new car. I will tell you everything I know about this car both good and bad. I believe I am the third owner. I have never had an accident with the car. The car was bought new in Florida by an older man who stopped driving in a few years. It was sold to his daughter who lived in Mahwah, NJ. I bought it from the daughter in May of 1996. It had 17678 miles on it. I paid $8100 in 1996. I have a clear NJ title with my name on it. The color on the tile is "beige". I had the car painted in 2004. It is now red. The interior is brown. Since it was bought new in Florida it had no rear defroster. In December of 1996 I had the rear window replaced and the the wiring hooked up so it has fully functional rear defroster. I have maintenance records since the day I bought it which you get with the purchase of the car. I can tell you everything I ever replaced on it. The oil has been changed every 3 to 4000 miles. I have always used Mobil 1. Here is a summary of things replaced and at what mileage and date: New windshield 112874 3/8/2011 last oil change 112031 11/20/2010 replace antifreeze 111567 9/11/2010 front brake pads, calipers, rotors and hoses 110203 3/24/2010 new starter solenoid contacts 109310 1/16/2010 new muffler and rear exhaust pipe 108779 10/10/2009 new catalytic converter 108281 8/1/2009 new battery 106910 2/4/2009 new front exhaust pipe and new oil pan 103075 10/30/2007 new rear brake shoes, drums and hardware kits 101961 6/2/2007 new radiator and hoses 98472 6/24/2006 new valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals, and spark plugs 98268 4/24/2006 wheel alignment 97942 4/5/2006 the headliner was professionally replaced 6/14/2006 transmission fluid and filter change and differential fluid 96638 10/1/2005 4 new Toyota CV boots and CV joints repacked 77195 6/9/2002 new Toyota timing belt, water pump, cap, rotor, ignition wires and drive belts 70516 5/10/2001 rebuilt alternator 67950 9/23/2000 new Toyota modified exhaust manifold 65136 5/23/00 I did not include all the previous oil changes and tune ups only the most current. Everything is documented in the maintenance files. The car passed New Jersey's tough emissions test and has a good inspection sticker until May of 2012. The overall MPG rating for the car is 24MPG. The tires have the following amount of tread left: FD 8/32" FP 8/32" RD 8/32" RP 6/32" I have two full size spare tires. I also have two additional tires in the garage that have 8/32" tread you can have with the car. They need to be mounted. You also get the oil filter and 3 quarts of Mobil 1 for your next oil change. You get the owners manual. If you do your own work I will also include the Toyota shop repair manuals. I have a new Toyota thermostat that I was going to install at he next antifreeze change which I will also include. I will also include a new Toyota window crank handle. It seems to break every few years on the drivers side. The antifreeze has been flushed and replaced with Prestone green. Now the bad stuff. The AC in the car does not work properly. It gets cold but on a very hot day it takes a long, long time. I don't know what is wrong with it. The windshield wiper arms are rusty but work fine. Sandpaper and some flat black paint would probably do the job. As you can see in the picture the drivers side front seat is a little dirty. As you can see from the pictures there is a rust out around the rear wheel wells. If you are handy with body work this may not be a big job for you. If I was keeping it I would have found wheel well trim or molding and tried to cover it. On the drivers side of the engine where it connects to the transmission there is oil seepage. I say seepage because there is never any oil spots on on the ground. The bottom of the car is dry. I could not determine where the oil was leaking from. I took it to my technician a few years ago. He said it may be the oil seal on the distributor shaft. His suggestion was leave it alone. If it is not dripping on the ground it is a minor leak. He said it may stop or stay the same. If it gets worse then do something about. He suggested a oil stop leak which I did not try. The other suggestion is stop using the synthetic oil and use mineral oil. He said somethings you get more seepage in an old engine when you use the synthetic oil. I didn't try that either. When you get the car you might want to try one of these solutions. The car uses a quart of oil about every 1200 to 1400 miles. Some of that may be due to the seepage and it may be burning a little but it did pass NJ's emission test so it can't be that much. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: YOU ARE BIDING ON A USED CAR. NOTHING I HAVE SAID SHOULD BE CONSTRUED TO MEAN THERE IS A WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE. THERE IS NONE. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. NO RETURN NO REFUNDS. I HAVE LISTED EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT THE CAR BOTH GOOD AND BAD. IF YOU GET THE CAR AND FIND SOMETHING WRONG THAT IS NOT LISTED ABOVE IT IS BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IT. IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT DON'T BID. I DON'T PLAY GAMES WITH TITLES. I WILL FILL IN MY NAME YOUR NAME, SALE PRICE, MILEAGE AND DATE IT. DON'T ASK ME TO DO ANYTHING ELSE BECAUSE I WON'T. IF YOU WANT ME TO HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET YOUR REGISTRATION, PLATES AND INSURANCE I WILL. CAR GOES TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER, NO RESERVE. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS EMAIL THEM AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER THEM. GOOD LUCK!
