Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my wifes 1972 Gran Torino GT Sport. Is a one family owned car. It Was her parents first new car purchase. I have done much to bring the car back to life. It sat in storage for the better part of 15 years. Started periodically, and driven down the road. I have the original window sticker, and warranty plate with all of the manual, and original paperwork. I has the original radio, and 8 track player uner the dash. The title is original and shows the sale date on the title of 11/21/72. My wife does not drive it so she told me to go ahead and sell it. She wants new windows in our house. I will attempt to describe it as well as I can. The car was repainted in the late 70s, or early 80s. It needs it again. It looks great from 5 feet away, but up close you can see bubbles. They are the size of pin heads, and larger. I removed the vinyl top, repaired the rust spots, and prepped it with por15. I applied por15 over the whole roof so it should not have a problem again. Then we had a new vinyl top installed two week ago. There was very minor rust behind both wheel wells. I repaired those properly, and applied the por15 to those areas as well. No paint is on those spots. (black) Previous to this I had the engine freshened up, including having the heads gone through with the appropriate parts to be compatable with the new fuels. It is a351 cleveland. Originally a 2 barrel, but has been converted to a 4 barrel. It has new 2.5" exhaust with a cross over. I also installed an MSD electronic distributor. The brakes have been redone as well. I removed the interior last fall to install new carpet, and found rust under the passenger side of the seat. So I had a new panel installed on the right side of the floor. Installed new carpet, and put the interior back in. When the mechanic put the engine back together he suggested we remove all of the A/C equipment. I said no, and had him put all of the A/C system back on the car. Although I did not have the belt put back on, or charged. Would need to be updated with R-134, but as far as I can tell it is all there. There are holes in the grill panel at the bottom where someone maybe installed fog lights at some point. There is a dent on the rear bumper, and a slight dent on the right front fender @ the side molding. But for its age it is great. I enjoy driving the car very much, and get a lot of looks. It sounds very healthy, and runs and drives great. Although it is not perfect, it is a great weekend cruiser. People love it. I think it is the best color they offered on this car. If you want a ground up restored car, this is NOT it. But not many this good anymore. Setting a reasonable reserve, and May sell to the high bidder. BUT do not bid unless you can pay for it. If you have negative feedback, or no feedback, I will need to have an explantion from you or I may remove your bid. I have done my best to describe the car. My feedback is very inportant to me so ask any questions you like. I will help some with shipping arrangments. IE: Maybe taking it to a major city like Portland to save a bit. I will be adding more pictures in a day or so. Happy bidding!!!!!
