IT IS A REAL (344) VIN 1968 OLDS 442 2 DOOR HARDTOP (HOLIDAY COUPE) ENGINE IS THE CORRECT CASTING 396026G AND CODE 38M218998 (SEE PICTURE- BEST I COULD TAKE) ENGINE HAS EDELBROCK STREET DOMINATOR INTAKE MANIFOLD AND EDELBROCK CARB, HAS HOLLEY VALVE COVERS, HEADERS AND MALLORY UNILITE DISTRIBUTOR AND COIL. HAS MSD WIRES, EXHAUST IS DUAL WITH GLASS PACKS AND CORRECT 442 TIPS AT THE CORRECT 442 BUMPER WITH EXHAUST CUT OUTS. TRANSMISSION IS A TH-400 AND IS THE CORRECT OG-68 CODE FOR THIS CAR. REAREND IS A 12 BOLT O TYPE NON-POSI WHICH IS ALSO CORRECT FOR THIS CAR. (I AM NOT SURE OF RATIO.) IT ALSO HAS AIR SHOCKS THAT WORK. THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS HAS BEEN TAPPED INTO FOR THE IGNITION CHANGE AND SOME OTHER CHANGES LOOKS LIKE DUE TO HEADER HEAT. I WOULD RECOMMEND REPLACING THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS. THESE ARE AVAILABLE NEW AND LETS FACE IT, THESE CARS ARE NOW OVER 40 YEARS OLD. THEY WILL NEED SOME WIRING AND OTHER RESTORATION REPAIRS. THERE IS 4 CORRECT STYLE RALLY WHEELS THAT ARE THE BOLT ON CENTER TYPE, 14" TIRES ARE 245/60-SR14, TIRES ARE OLD ONLY TWO CAPS, AND TRIM RINGS IN PLACE. MANUAL DRUM BRAKES ALL AROUND. POWER STEERING, CORRECT BLACK BUCKET SEATS AND CONSOLE. THE ENTIRE INTERIOR NEEDS REPLACED AND OR RESTORED. THE CONSOLE AND SHIFTER ARE CORRECT FOR THIS CAR. THEY SHOULD BE CLEANED AND REFINISHED TO BE SHOW QUALITY, THE SEATS ARE TIRED AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES. BUT ALL THERE. THERE IS A FULL SET OF BLACK STANDARD, DATE CODE CORRECT SEAT BELTS IN PLACE. THEY ARE DRIVER QUALITY. THE CAR IS ORIGINAL S PAINT CODE WHICH IS JADE GOLD. IN A FEW PICTURES YOU CAN SEE THAT. HAS BEEN PAINTED IN THE DOOR JAMBS AND TRUNK UNDERSIDE AND EDGES. I REMOVED THE SEATS AND CARPET SO PICTURES COULD BE TAKEN OF THE FLOORS. THERE IS ONLY A VERY SMALL SPOT OF RUST IN THE RIGHT REAR JUST AHEAD OF THE BACK SEAT. ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. (SEE PICTURES) I FOUND RUST AT THE BOTTOM OF BOTH FENDERS AND THE QUARTER PANELS VERY TYPICAL OF THIS AGE CAR. THESE RUST SPOTS ARE THE KIND THAT PATCH PANELS ARE SOLD TO FIX. TRUNK FLOOR SEEMS VERY SOLID. WINDOW FRAMES ALSO SEEM VERY SOLID. GLASS IS ALL GOOD EXCEPT A CRACKED WINDSHIELD. DOES NOT HAVE TACH OR GAUGES. DOES HAVE FACTORY AM RADIO THAT SEEMS CORRECT AND THERE IS A FACTORY STYLE REAR SPEAKER WIRE IN PLACE TO THE BACK PACKAGE TRAY. HAS CORRECT BOXED REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND SWAY BAR. ALSO HAS A TILT COLUMN BUT, IT IS CORRECT FOR 68 BUT IS AN AUTO ON THE COLUMN STYLE WITH THE SHIFT LEVER REMOVED. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL BUCKET SEAT AND CONSOLE SHIFTED CAR. THE FENDERS AND QUARTERS APPEAR TO NEED JUST THE LOWER PATCH PANELS THAT ARE AVAILABLE NEW. THE TRUNK FLOOR IS SOLID. THE HOOD AND TRUNK LID ARE ALSO BOTH SOLID AND DO NOT APPEAR TO NEED ANY RUST REPAIR AND ONLY MINOR PREP FOR REPAINTING. (THIS IS A HUGE PLUS, JUST FIND A RUST FREE CORRECT 442 HOOD) THIS CAR IS NOT A VINYL TOP CAR. SO, IT DOES NOT HAVE ROOF ROT FROM THAT. ROCKERS AND DOOR JAMBS APPEAR RUST FREE. FRAME IS ALSO APPEARS RUST FREE. THERE IS ONLY A VERY SMALL (ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER) RUST HOLE IN THE FLOOR AREA. YOU CAN CHECK THE VIN AGAINST THE ENGINE NUMBER AND WILL SEE IT IS MATCHING. SO IS THE TRANS. THIS IS WHAT MAKES THIS SUCH A GREAT RESTORATION PROJECT. YOU CAN BUY A DRIVING CAR THAT HAS HAD THE MOTOR REPLACED. YOU CAN BUY A RESTORED CAR WITH A CORRECT BUT NOT ORIGINAL MOTOR. YOU CAN'T MAKE THEM A NUMBERS MATCH CAR. IF YOU START WITH A CAR THAT HAS, HAD THE ORIGINAL MOTOR OR TRANS HAS BEEN REPLACED. YOU CAN NEVER MAKE IT A NUMBERS MATCHING CAR. THIS CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL MOTOR AND TRANS AND THEY WORK! THAT DRASTICALLY MAKES THIS CAR WORTH MORE AFTER A QUALITY RESTORATION. THE PERSON I GOT THIS CAR FROM SAID IT WAS JUST PAINTED RED WHEN HE GOT IT. THAT WAS IN 1996. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT CODE OR COLOR RED IT IS. IT IS OXIDIZED AND I DID POLISH IT AT THE LEFT SIDE AND IT SHINNED RIGHT UP. HOWEVER, THE CAR REALLY DOES NEED A NEW PAINT JOB. THERE IS SOME MINOR DOOR DINGS HERE AND THERE. THE ONLY REAL DENT IN THE CAR IS THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER. IT CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURES. THE CHROME NOT ON THE CAR IS MISSING. ALL THE HOLES ARE CORRECT FOR 442. THERE IS ONE DOOR UPPER MOLDING AND THE QUARTER EXTENSIONS NEXT TO THE TRUNK LID. THESE ARE SHOWN IN THE TRUNK PICTURES. NO OTHER MOLDINGS ARE INCLUDED WITH THE CAR. THE HOOD IS A CORRECT 442 HOOD NOT A CUTLASS SUPREME WITH THE MOLDING HOLES FILLED. I HAVE TAKEN AROUND 35 PICTURES OF THIS CAR. I HAVE DRIVEN IT AROUND THE BLOCK A FEW TIMES. (IT HAS NOT TAGS SO LIMITED ON HOW FAR I CAN GO) I GOT IT UP TO ABOUT 35 MPH AND IT WENT THROUGH ALL THE GEARS JUST FINE. WILL LIGHT UP THE TIRES WITH NO EFFORT AT ALL. DOES NOT GET HOT AFTER RUNNING FOR A HOUR OR SO. THE CARB IS AN EDELBROCK MANUAL CHOKE CARB AND IT IS NOT HOOKED UP TO ANYTHING TO RUN THE CHOKE. I WOULD RECOMMEND REPLACING THE INTAKE AND CARB WITH FACTORY TYPE ITEMS TO MAKE IT MORE ORIGINAL. I HAVE THOSE ITEMS AVAILABLE SEPERATE FROM THIS DEAL. I WOULD CONSIDER REPLACING THE INTAKE AND CARB WITH FACTORY TYPE ITEMS TO THE WINNING BIDDER IN EXCHANGE FOR THE INTAKE AND CARB THAT IS ON THE CAR.
