Vehicle Detail

For Auction / Must Sell: Rare Factory Stock Mopar Street Rod Pick-Up Truck 2001 Dodge Dakota 360 Cubic Inch (5.9 liter) V-8 RT/Sport-Low Series Great Condition, Clean, Runs Strong, Excellent Value The Back Story: Dad retired to Virginia about 10 years ago. Dad was a bit of a motorhead, and so he bought this hotrod truck as his toy about 8 years ago. Dad passed away a couple of years ago, and now Mom has decided she no longer wants to pay to insure the truck. I brought the truck up to New Jersey last year so that I could give it a good bath, an oil change, and liquidate it for Mom. Dad bought the truck off the front yard of the local Virginia Mopar dealer (see photo of dealer decal), and he always told me that the dealer said the original owner had removed the RT/Sport decals because he was tired of kids pulling up at stoplights to drag race him. So legend has it, and according to the VIN decoder that I ran the numbers through, this truck is an "RT/Sport-Low" Series, built in the Dodge City Assembly Plant in Warren, Michigan, without the decals - a "Sleeper" to those of us old enough to know what that means. So, I'm not an expert on what the original package included, but I can vouch for the 360 cubic inches, the ability to smoke tires on clean dry pavement, the blast of acceleration that is easily tapped while already cruising at 65 mph, the low slung handling like the truck is on rails, the awesome rumble of the big V-8 - it's all there. The truck is equipped with fat GoodYear Eagle RS-A Tires, P255/55 R17's, over-sized from the P225 listed on the door sticker (see photo), and they look to be in good condition, with plenty of tread left (see photo). There is a fifth one, full-size spare, on matching aluminum sport rim, mounted below the bed. Oh, and being the motorhead that he was, Dad has the Factory Service Manual for the truck also, included with the sale. Some details: It looks like a single chrome exhaust tip out the rear (see photos). It has auxillary fog lights. It has a towing package, with receiver hitch and 4-point wire harness. Dad always used Amsoil Full Synthetic Oil, and that's what I used when I changed the oil and filter this winter. The only functional issue that I could find is the heating/cooling fan control (it seems to be either "off" or "high"). The cassette/stereo and speakers are sort of obsolete. The truck has the Extended Cab, with bench seating (for kids) and an opening rear window and bed light. The interior and fabric seats are in Excellent Condition, with the exception of a few stubborn Pomeranian hairs (Mom's lap dog). As per the photos, there is some very minor chipping and scuffing on the body. The passenger side front bumper has a light scuff (see photo). There are 2 locations at the wheel well body flares that have very small chips, and there is one scratch at another wheel flare. The truck bed liner looks like it was a spray-on type, and that coating has mostly worn away. There are 3 attachment rails for a tonneau cover, but we haven't been able to find the actual cover. Per the photo, the bottom side of the bed is rust-free! (Virginia truck!) The truck has a current NJ Vehicle Inspection Sticker, and it has current NJ Registration and Insurance. Like I said, Mom is done with paying to keep up the insurance, so we are eager to sell. **NOTE: the Auto-Check/Experian Report comes up with an odometer reading of 94k in 2008 **3/1/11 Update - Mom just explained that she gave VA DMV the wrong odometer reading that year, from her Dodge Caravan (thanks Mom) - the truck reads 61,775 right now, per the photo. We will hold the vehicle for the successful bidder for 14 calendar days upon receipt of a $500 deposit by PayPal. PayPal Deposit is due within 2 business days of winning the auction. We will accept a Bank/Cashier's Check or Cash in person for the remaining balance when you come to get the truck. We will not accept a personal check for the remaining balance. We will remove our NJ license plates upon selling the truck, so please make arrangements to legally transport the vehicle before you pick it up. We will not ship the truck. We reserve the right to cancel the sale if the Deposit is not received within 2 business days of winning the auction, and/or if the Balance is not paid within 14 calendar days of winning the auction. If the Deposit is received, but the Balance is not paid within 14 calendar days, we reserve the right to cancel the sale and refund the Deposit money less whatever listing and final value fees may have been charged by E-bay. I have been buying and selling items on E-bay for 10 years under the same name, including a piano and 2 motorcycles, I have a feedback rating of 107, and it's all positive; I intend to keep it that way. Please e-mail me with any questions you may have and I'll do my best to answer them. Thanks very much for your interest, and good luck bidding! -Baystew On Mar-02-11 at 18:23:48 PST, seller added the following information: 3/2/11: Check This Out - I just found the original Window Sticker (still sticky) with the Owners Manual - The truck is called, "Dakota Club Cab R/T".
