I AM HAPPY TO CONSIDER ALL OFFERS SO DON'T BE SHY. THANK YOU. 1959 PLYMOUTH CUSTOM 9-PASSENGER SUBURBAN! If you want an example of a big-finned late fifties wagon, this is it. This is an original 1959 Plymouth wagon that is the rarely seen "custom" model suburban. I've owned several suburbans and researched them and it's rare to see a fancier custom model for sale. Custom models were available with V-8's only. The '59 model plymouth was part of the "forward look" marketing campaign. This car was still in the original family when I purchased it. Included is the original owners manual, owners certificate, and several other factory books that are pictured. I believe the mileage on the car to be original. When I bought this there were several items in the car that probably date to the fifties/sixties including full oil quarts in the old style cans. There were several money order receipts in the glovebox from 1959! There was not a lot of garbage in the car but what was there was very old, and probably from the sixties. The third seat in this car does face backwards so the kids can make faces at the cars behind them. Note: many more pictures are in the photobucket link at the end of the description. Here are all the details on the Plymouth. MECHANICAL This wagon is equipped with the 318 V-8 and the pushbutton automatic transmission. The motor runs great but will probably need rebuilt or re-ringed. It smokes but it may clear up after being ran awhile? I doubt it though and I would expect it to need at least a ring job. It runs cool and does not leak oil. The motor has no knocks or ticks. It has the two-barrel carburator. The transmission works properly. All the gears work and it does not slip or make any abnormal noises. The exhaust is bad but it's not too loud for loading or moving around. This car has power steering and power brakes. The brakes work when pumped but need bled. This car does not have A/C. The tires on the car are just rollers and not in usable condition but do hold air. The hubcaps are not the originals. They're not included but if you really want them you can have them. I don't know what they are off of, they are just some that I had. An original spare is included. BODY The body is in very good condition for an un-restored car this old. It has nothing I would call a "dent". It has one scratch on the passenger rear quarter and the trim was damaged a bit there. There are no other dings that I see. There really is no body damage at all besides the scratch. I don't think there are even any door dings. There are no signs of any bondo anywhere. No old bondo bubbling or cracking. I've been over the car with a magnet and found nothing. When I say I went over it with a magnet, I don't just mean in a couple random spots. I went over the entire car. The car does have some rust but nothing significant. The eyebrows have some pinhole rust. The rest of the front fenders are very nice. The floors are nearly perfect but each side has a one small spot in the foot area in front of the middle seat. These are small patches that will be easy to repair. To be very specific, each side needs one small patch only. The front floors are perfect. The drivers rear quarter has rust in front of the rear wheel (basically the rocker area) and low behind the rear wheel also. The quarter lip around the wheel looks fine. That is the extent of the rust and I've been all over the car and under it. The header, firewall, inner fenders, cowl, dash, frame, floor supports, roof, doors, jams, passenger rocker, passenger quarter, pillars, tailgate, tailgate jam, hood, etc. are rust free. I did also check the bottom of the doors and any other nooks/crannies I could think of to check. The glass on the car is nearly perfect but the windshield does have one chip. The windows all roll down but do need lubed to make them roll up/down easier. Pretty normal stuff for a car this old. The rear electric window works! It does need adjusted though as you have to help it. It's not that the motor is weak, but a track or something is loose and it will get crooked if you don't help it. The motor is fine and has plenty of power. The grille is perfect. Both bumpers are nice but not perfect. Most of the trim/stainless on the car is nice but it does have some small dings that you can see in the pics. I believe the trim on the fins is all in nice shape. Overall, the body on this car is very clean and straight and will be easy to repair and prep for paint. I have a bodyman do work for me sometimes and he could easily fix the rust with raw sheetmetal if needed, but replacement panels ARE available new. Many more pics are in the picture link. The undercoating is coming off in areas and may look like rust but it isn't except what I described. INTERIOR The interior in the suburban could be usable with a front seat cover. If your doing a higher level restoration, it will need the upholstery completely re-done. The passenger seat and third seat are in good shape and both fold down properly. The front seat has the usual wear and rips but the springs aren't damaged. The gauge area and steering wheel are in good shape. The headliner panels have been removed but are included for templates if needed. A couple of the doorpanels are nice, the others aren't so nice. The original floormat is usable but a new one is included. By new, I mean it has never been used but by the looks of the box it is 20 years old most likely so I'm not sure that it's still in nice shape. This car would be fine to drive with a front seat cover only if you don't intend on doing a full resto initially. MORE PICTURES AT THIS PHOTOBUCKET LINK: http://s942.photobucket.com/albums/ad267/tutheck5/1959%20plymouth%20suburban/ OVERALL This is a very cool car and one of the most unique wagons that ever came out of detroit. It will make a great restoration project, or will be easy to make it into a driver. The '59 plymouths are one of the best examples of the styling and excess of the late '50s american automobiles. I'm sure you'll be happy with it and you will get tons of attention and thumbs up even if you drive it the way it is now. Thank you and happy bidding. P> READ THE PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BIDDING.
