All - My 1996 Pontiac Firebird is for sale. I purchased it in late 2004 (off ebay) with 77K miles, and I've been making improvements to it ever since. I’ve probably forgot 'something', but the list (below) is what I can recall that I’ve done to my baby over the last seven years. I’m a Mechanical Engineer, with a father and a brother, who are both Machinists, and a step-father who is an ASE-certified GM Master Mechanic with 20+ years experience; so, unless noted, all work was performed by me with their help. No reserve. It's got $9,000 in the motor alone, so who ever wins this auction is getting a deal. I am 100% sure that you will not find a nicer, cleaner, more dependable, or faster 1996 Firebird anywhere. Feel free to ask any and all questions now. After the auction is over, we’ll discuss how to view / inspect your new purchase, and how to provide me with the funds. Configuration: 1996 Pontiac Firebird Hardtop Turbocharged LT4 V-8 M6 #14 – The last of 14 in the Pro-Am Series special edition of 1996 (See pic of the metal identification plate located on center console) Polo Green exterior; Tan cloth interior (NO rips, NO tears, and NO stains) with Black dash, center console, floor mats, sun visors, and two tone (Tan and Black) door panels. Total Mileage = 180,000 miles (NOTE: The only component that actually has all 180,000 miles is the body; every major and minor system has been subjected to complete upgrades over the last seven years.) Engine: Chevy 355 cu in (i.e. – 0.030” overbored 350) 330 HP LT4 – rebuilt engine with zero miles installed when the Firebird had 110,000 miles (stock engine was a 350 cu in 275 HP LT1). Oil and filter changed every 2000 miles. (NOTE: Engine idles smooth at 925 RPM with 39 lbs of oil pressure at operating temperature.) Engine Upgrades: · GM High Performance LT4 Hot Cam kit – with has increased lift and duration over the smaller stock LT4 cam AND 1.6 ratio forged roller rocker arms [LT4 HOT cam with 1.6 ratio rocker arms: Lift (In/Exh) = .525 / .525, Duration (In/Exh) = 218 / 228; stock LT4 cam with 1.5 ratio rocker arms: Lift (In/Exh) = .474 / .510, Duration (In/Exh) = 208 / 221] (Hot Cam kit installed during LT4 engine rebuild, prior to install) · K&N Air Filter installed when LT4 engine was installed · SLP 160 degree thermostat installed when LT4 engine was installed · Stock exhaust Y-Pipe and catalytic converters replaced with aftermarket stainless steel Y-Pipe and high flow / low restriction catalytic converters, and all stock four oxygen sensors were replaced with Bosch units as well. This occurred at 140,000 miles. · MSD Ignition Box (Model 6-BTM) and MSD high output Ignition Coil installed at 140,000 miles. · High flow / Ported Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and High flow / Ported 54 mm Throttle Body installed at 140,000 miles. · Stock 24 Lb Fuel Injectors replaced with Bosch 39 Lb units at 140,000 miles. · PCM Reprogrammed (By Bryan Herter of PCM for Less); this has occurred three times, the first being at the 140,000 miles. · The internal LT1 Knock Module was replaced with an LT4 Knock Module at 140,000 miles. · All AIR, EGR, and EVAP emission related hardware removed from LT4 engine. (Removal occurred at various mileage points). PCM tuned (again, by PCM for Less) to turn OFF all related OBD II codes; i.e. – NO Check Engine Light. · Stock Opti-spark distributor replaced with GM High Performance unit (from Summit) at 160,000 miles. · Stock water pump replaced with GM High Performance unit (from Summit) at 160,000 miles. · Stock timing chain replaced with High Performance unit (from Summit) at 160,000 miles. · LT4 Intake manifold ported for maximum air flow, and EGR block-off plates installed at 170,000 miles. · Head gaskets replaced with MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) units at 170,000 miles. · Stock Torque-to-Yield head bolts replaced with premium ARP Stainless Steel head bolts (Torqued to 80 ft lbs) at 170,000 miles · Heads milled 0.003” for flatness at 170,000 miles. · Camshaft hydraulic roller lifters replaced - AND - Camshaft’s 1.6 ratio roller rocker arms replaced at 170,000 miles. · At 170,000 miles, with the heads and intake removed, the pistons and cylinder bores were cleaned and inspected, NO issues. · Radiator replaced and Dex-cool coolant replaced with conventional / green coolant at 170,000 miles; Temperature gauge now displays between 165 degrees F to a maximum of 175 degrees F (even when stuck in traffic and idling with A/C on MAX!) · Stock type spark plug wires and spark plugs replaced with super low resistance (less than 10 Ohms per foot) 9 MM double insulated severe duty / racing wires and Iridium / Platinum spark plugs at 170,000 miles. · Stock fuel pump replaced with high volume Walboro 255 unit (installed at 145,000 miles). Engine Power Adder: Squires Turbo Systems (STS) rear mount turbo system providing 11 lbs of boost, and a Snow Performance Methanol injection system which injects a blend of Methanol and water into the intake stream, prior to the intake manifold, which cools the compressed and heated intake air, and completely eliminates combustion detonation. Both Items were installed at 145,000 miles. Estimated output = 500 rear wheel horsepower. (NOTE: New turbocharger installed at 176,000 miles). Transmission / Upgrades: T56 6-speed manual transmission; sixth gear ratio = 0.50 T56 Stage II (good to 700 Ft-Lbs) unit with all steel and bronze internals (vs aluminum and plastic on stock units), built and installed by Tick Performance of Mooresville, NC at 150,000 miles. Dexron III fluid replaced in transmission every 20,000 miles. Skip-shift function turned OFF by PCM for Less. Clutch / Upgrades: LT4 Clutch, Pressure Plate, throw-out bearing, and pilot bearing (a real roller bearing NOT a bushing) and complete hydraulics installed at 150,000 miles. Shifter / Upgrades: Hurst Competition Plus shifter plus a real bronze shifter bushing (vs. stock plastic bushing) installed at 110,000 miles. Driveshaft / Upgrades: Aluminum, low mass / high strength 3” diameter driveshaft with solid Spicer U-joints installed at 125,000 miles. Rear end / Upgrades: · Strange Engineering Axles (25% stronger than stock) installed at 125,000 miles. · Mikronited (see http://www.vincihiperformance.com/MIKRONITE%20MAIN%20PAGE.HTML) 3:73 ratio ring and pinion gears (much stronger than stock) installed by Tick Performance of Mooresville, NC at 150,000 miles. · Cast aluminum rear end brace / cover, installed at 125,000 miles. · Lucas SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Oil; replaced every 20,000 miles. Steering and Suspension / Upgrades: Front Suspension – · New rack and pinion steering assembly installed at 160,000 miles. · New Gas-filled Heavy Duty Shocks / Struts installed at 165,000 miles. · UMI Suspension Strut Tower installed at 110,000 miles. · All Anti-sway bar rubber bushings replaced with Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushings installed at 110,000 miles. Between the Front and Rear Suspension – · UMI Suspension Three point bolt-in Sub-frame connectors installed at 110,000 miles. Rear Suspension – · Lower control arm relocation brackets installed at 110,000 miles. · Coil-spring located air bags installed at 110,000 miles. · All Anti-sway bar rubber bushings replaced with Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushings installed at 110,000 miles. · UMI Suspension One-end Adjustable Lower control arms installed at 140,000 miles. · UMI Suspension One-end Adjustable Pan-rod bar installed at 140,000 miles. · UMI Suspension Fully Adjustable Torque Arm and Driveshaft Loop installed at 140,000 miles. (NOTE: Pinion angle set to -2.5 degrees) · New Gas-filled Heavy Duty Shocks / Struts installed at 165,000 miles. Brake System / Upgrades: · Under-hood ABS module and in-car ABS control module deleted, and brake proportioning valve and line locks installed at 110,000 miles. · All front and rear brake pads upgraded to Carbon Metallic compound at 160,000 miles. · All rubber brake line sections replaced with Russell Braded Steel and Teflon lines at 175,000 miles. · DOT 3 brake fluid flushed and then replaced with NAPA brand DOT 5.1 (DOT 3 and 4 compatible) brake fluid at 175,000 miles. Wheels and Tires / Upgrades: · 2002 model year only WS6-specific (i.e. – Speedline) 17” x 9.5” wheels installed at 130,000 miles [Yes, I have all 20 black plastic lug nut caps, I just forgot to install them prior to the photo shoot!] · Four Firehawk WIDE OVAL Indy 500 275 / 40 / 17 tires installed at 179,000 miles [Yes, the tires have less than 1000 miles on them!] · Four wheel alignment done at 179,000 miles. Sound System / Electrical Upgrades: · Stock GM / Delco Electronics CD player added at 110,000 miles. · All speakers replaced with 6” round high performance polypropylene units at 110,000 miles. · Battery relocated to trunk using the biggest 25 foot cables [size 0000 !!!] I could find at 120,000 miles.
