Vehicle Detail
Description: the bus can best be described as a 1966 Deluxe hardtop with bench seat. this is commonly called a 13 window deluxe bench seat. it has an original exterior with two pop out windows (standard for this model). It has the original M coded paint colors. the interior is a moderate camper conversion with no hacks (as in hack jobs). Paint: new two years or so ago, always garaged. never properly color sanded to bring out the shine. top was not clear coated needs to be. colors are original to the bus and the paint matches the tags behind the passenger seat (velvet green and pearl white) Engine: 700 miles on new engine. new engine built by old time VW mechanic (1600cc with dog house oil cooler) converted to 12 volt generator but running a 6volt starter so the transmission didn't need to be cut. spare 6 volt starter in the extra parts. engine runs well and can cruise at 65 and never over heats. little drip of oil but just a nuisence not important. engine burns no oil Transmission: original "big nut" tranny with reduction gear boxes. small drip from nose cone seal just a nuisence not a problem. shifts smooth with no noise but not designed for jack rabbit starts Electrics: 12 volt conversion with 6 volt starter. all new wiring from Wire Works have receipts. all lights work. fuel gauge works but is not accurate at full but IS accurate at empty, possibly the ground wire is corroded or dirty. clock is not wired in and is still 6 volts so needs to be converted to 12 volts or a voltage drop device installed or buy a 12volt clock. turn signals work well and dimmer works. 12 pin relay has been changed (look behind drivers kick panel for clean and simple way this was done) the electrics aside from what I mentioned are flawless Body: bus was a clean dry project to begin with. there is NO bondo repair all body repair was new metal professionaly welded. receipts show new cargo floor, cargo door bottoms, rockers under cargo doors and long panel side rocker. front floor boards and area below VW emblem inside and out were replaced. this is the extent of the metal work all trim is original and in place this includes all belt line trim and rocker spears cargo door step is from a later bay style bus jail bars are installed properly mirrors are reproduction Harp style one key opens all doors ignition lock and key are different VW emblem is original gas tank is new with original vented gas cap Interior: moderate conversion to weekend camper with westphalia bed. hanging closet cut down to night stand with storage inside marine plywood floor laid over new metal cargo floor with linoleum tile swing up dining table tommy bahama fabric throughout best quality vinyl and foam seating original bench seats recovered new headliner installed with no wrinkles bay mosquito screen for back hatch mp3 player amp and stereo speakers fully fused and wired all interior panels Steering; rebuilt steering box. bus steers and tracks like new with no steering wheel play. front end is aligned with new damper. shocks are new and those recommended on Samba. bus has been kept greased and all front end parts are in good shape. Brakes: brakes were changed about 3000 miles ago and work great. no pull left or right and stop the bus brake system is standard for 1966 model not the double circuit introduced in 1967 all soft brake lines were changed when brakes were changed replacement brake line in night stand Clutch: clutch works great with lots of life left replacement clutch line in night stand Window seals etc: ALL rubber seals on the bus are new. this includes but not limited to: windows, doors, headlights, turn signals, tail lights, everything! Heating: the heating system in the bus WORKS all parts are in good repair. this bus can go to Alaska in comfort! This includes the defroster. the fresh air vent has new rubber on the diverter and works like new
