Up for auction is a 1987 Volvo 240 DL station wagon with 136,555 original miles in great shape! This wagon is in good original condition, runs and drives great and has been used infrequently as our secondary driver on local and highway roads. This car has been the best vehicle we've owned and has been as dependable as Volvo 240s are known to be. The car has been in the sunny South during it's lifetime, we bought the car in Austin, Texas in 2000 and now live in Florida. The original paint and body is in great shape with only a tiny surface rust spot on the rear tailgate which I've taken a photo of, the pinstriping is also missing in places (see photo). Tires are in good shape and this four cylinder car gets 24 mpg highway! Car has an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning (which works). It comes with a Kenwood KDC-MP332 radio with cd and front door speakers that I installed, as well as the original cassette radio. In addition, we have the MAINTENANCE SERVICE LOGBOOK and all the receipts that date back to 1991 (see photos)! The car also includes its original owners manual, dealer directory, consumer and warranty information from 1987. I'm also including a Chilton's service manual I have for the car. Air conditioning works, the last time we had the car in the shop they mentioned that the car may soon need a new A/C drier and A/C expansion valve, so these new parts are included with the car (still in their original boxes). The interior is in good shape with the exception of the drivers side seat which has tears in the vinyl, we normally have a seat cover over it. The strength of the Volvo 240 engine is legendary, and with proper maintenance (as we've provided) this car could easily last another 100,000+ miles. The odometer seems to be working fine currently but it might have stopped working for a brief period at some point. I come to this conclusion because it appears the vehicle has been driven about 2000 miles in the last nine years. While this vehicle has been driven infrequently during that time, that is extremely low mileage and worth pointing out.
