Vehicle Detail

1977 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham. Equipped with the Oldsmobile 350 4bbl Rocket engine, Turbo 350 Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Disk Brakes, Air conditioning, Tilt Wheel, Rear Defogger, AM-FM Stereo, Sport Mirrors, and Ralley Wheels. Mechanicals. This Cutlass is in excellent mechanical shape with only 78,000 original, verifiable mileage. The motor runs smooth and quiet, with nothing leaking on the ground. The choke sets correctly upon start-up, and no smoke is visible from the exhaust. The transmission shifts smoothly and quietly. I was 17 when this car was made, and I remember how these cars ran back then, and this one is a time machine. Single exhaust with the original cat converter in place. Tires in nice shape with almost new tread levels. Everything on this car works properly including the rear defog and AM-FM radio. The AC was blowing cold before this winter, has been too cold to test, but have no reason to believe it is not operating correctly. This Cutlass starts and stops as it should. It is a pleasure to drive. Interior: About as nice as you will find on a 34 year old car. No tears in the seats or headliner, nice carpet, beautiful door panels, nice dash, shiny chrome accents, etc… All glass in excellent shape, no stone chips. All interior lights, gauge lights, and panel lights operate as new. Exterior: This car was professionally rust proof TWICE early on in its life. The original owner purchased the car in Ohio and was well aware of salt issues. As a result, there is no rust in the front fenders, either of the doors, and none in the quarters with the exception of one small area in the rear passenger quarter (see pic), and some rust along a few of the vinyl top clips. Extremely minor issues. Trunk floor, floor pans, frame all look to be excellent, although they are all covered in rustproofing and undercoating. If you look at the pics inside the trunk you will see that even the inside of the trunk quarter panels were rustproofed. The original owner knew what he was doing when he purchased the car new. The paint on the car is 98% original. It has some surface rust coming through in some areas, but the most noticeable is on the trunk lid. Will a bit of detailing, I think most of the horizontal surface areas could be easily improved. The vinyl top is the original and is somewhat dry, but could probably be refurbished easily. I have a fair amount of paperwork and maintenance receipts on this car. Although there are no warranties either expressed or implied on this vehicle, I am confident that you could purchase this car and drive it home. I am the 3rd owner of this vehicle. The title is clear and is in my name. I have the car licensed, tagged, and insured. I know allot about these cars (I’ve been involved with Oldsmobiles for over 30 years), so please ask any questions and I will do my best to quickly respond. A 20% deposit will be due within 24 hours of a closed transaction, with the remainder due within 10 days beyond. Vehicle transportation is totally the responsibility of the buyer. I do have the car advertised locally and reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Thanks for your consideration. I am hopeful that my 77 Cutlass will find a good home.On Feb-16-11 at 06:38:40 PST, seller added the following information: Added 2/16/2011. Some maintenance info and mileage history. 12/10/99, mileage 64,379. Valve Cover gaskets, all drive belts, thermostat, Radiator, timing cover seal, Right rear axle seal, Heater control valve, fan clutch, oil pressure sending unit, R/R Transmission to seal leaks, other misc. Total bill $1910. 8/4/2000, mileage 71,089. Replace AC condenser and combo line. $1031. 2/15/2001, mileage 76,498. Replace Engine Mounts. Replace trans gasket, fluid, and filter. Replace oil pan gasket. Total Bill $612. All this work was performed by a reputable Oldsmobile dealer in Northern Virginia (see pics). Although this maintenance was preformed 10 years ago, the car has been garaged and driven very few miles since 2001. I have other maintenance records documented the mileage from earlier years, proving that the mileage is correct at almost 78,000. Also, don't let the inside pictures of the trunk walls deceive you. What you see is undercoating, not rust or other blemishes. I would assume with some elbow grease, all of it could be cleaned off if desired. There are almost 40 people watching this auction. Someone out there will hopefully secure themselves a nice Oldsmobile.... On Feb-16-11 at 08:39:17 PST, seller added the following information: Warm enough to check the AC today. Compressor engaged and blows cold air, and runs quiet. On Feb-18-11 at 09:01:38 PST, seller added the following information: The Cutlass has hit the reserve, so it will sell through this auction on E-Bay, Thanks for all of the interest in the car. It's nice to know there are people out there who appreciate these 1970's cars!
