Vehicle Detail
This is a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer with the up-level V8 engine and AWD. Other major options include DVD monitors in the front-row headrests, 3rd row seats, leather seating, power sunroof and the tow package! This truck is not only loaded, but it looks terrific inside and out! There are the minor scratches and chips that are common for a vehicle this age, but you'll be hard pressed to tell it's a 2002 by sitting in it! Check out the clear, accident-free history report; you don't run across many of these on eBay at this price! I've got all the keys, the code for the keyless entry and the manuals as well. I'm the second owner (I purchased from a dealer). Mechanically, this truck seems to be 100% turn-key, ready to roll! There are no running, safety or driveability issues with this Mountaineer; the engine runs smoothly and strongly, the AWD works perfectly, there are no service lights, fluid or exhaust leaks and all the options work well. There are only two issues that I've noticed: the passenger side front door does not always unlock with the rest of the doors, but cycling the lock once or twice unlocks it. The only other mechanical issue (dealer didn't find anything wrong when I had it checked out) is that the transmission sometimes shifts roughly from 2nd to 3rd. I was told by the dealer service department (Metro Ford in Raynham, MA) this was pretty normal and didn't represent anything other than a comfort issue. In the time I've owned it I've changed the oil twice with Mobil 1 full synthetic and I've put new tires on (July 2010) 4 brand new general grabbers. The exterior of the Mountaineer is a great shade of red - burgundy is the color noted by eBay with contrasting bronze on the lower panels. There's no rust and only some small surface scratches and a few chips on the leading edge of the hood. Again, as stated above, this truck hasn't been involved in any accidents, and the body shows it! The alloy wheels are in great shape and free from ugly curb rash (I know where the vehicle ends - no bumping into curbs while paralell parking)! The interior is tan leather, not that awful looking two tone greenish-grey and white that you sometimes see. The driver seat shows some wear, as to be expected with 108,000 on the odometer, but there are no holes or tears in the seats. Don't forget that the two front seats have headrest DVD players so the kids are always entertained while you're driving! The dashboard is in good condition, no cracks or holes; the rear seats are in great condition as is the back cargo area / 3rd row seats. There is one cupholder in the way back that has a crack, the storage area handle in the cargo hold is broken- that's it though! There are power windows, locks, mirrors, and driver seat. There are a lot of options installed in this Mountaineer! This Mountaineer will be a great deal for the next owner! Please check out the history and pictures; ask any questions you have, and don't hesitate to buy this beauty! I've done my best to list all noteworthy defects and imperfections in the body of the description; however, it may be possible that I've overlooked something - this is a used vehicle and prospective buyers should keep this in mind. What I consider to be a noteworthy defect or imperfection may not be the same as a prospective buyer; keep in mind that noteworthy on a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer is somewhat different than on a 2011 Mercedes Benz S Class. That being said, I think the pictures speak for themselves (plus you can look through and test-drive before you buy)! Please read below, as well as my payment instructions (payment tab in description box above) before bidding. If you are not able, or are not willing to abide by these payment terms, please do not make an offer. Thank you and good luck! Also, this is my daily driver, so between that and test-drives the mileage will be slightly higher than listed. On Feb-17-11 at 03:55:49 PST, seller added the following information: Having received several of the same questions, I decided to update the listing with the following information: The Mountaineer is, of course, being sold in as-is / where-is condition; I'm an individual and cannot offer you an extended warranty. I'm more than willing to pick you up at Logan Airport, North or South Stations in Boston, or TF Green International Airport in RI if you're coming from outside of the area. If paying by check or money order, please make it out to yourself so you can cash it at any bank. I've already received several blatant scam offers and am taking this measure to protect myself (unless you want to wait up to two weeks for your check / money order to fully clear before taking delivery). Thank you, and good luck to all the bidders! On Feb-18-11 at 16:51:42 PST, seller added the following information: This is the last update I expect to make: I now have the title in my possession; the winning bidder can pick up the Mountaineer tomorrow night if they like.
