Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1967 Alfa GTV "Stepnose". These are one of the most beautiful automobiles in my mind. This car was sold new in NY from Alfa USA. The car was originally white, but was painted red at some point. I had always wanted a white stepnose, so the plan was to return it back to the original "biancospino", but too many projects got in the way and now ultimately force me to offer it for sale. From the history i can gather from receipts, it appears the car lived for a short while on the east coast (1966-1970), then came west and lived in Long Beach, Ca (1970-1988), before traveling north to Ventura (1988-1997). Its next move was north to Novato, CA (1997-2004). It was next owned by a little lady in Vallejo, CA (2004-2007) before being picked up by an Alfa enthusiast in Monterey, CA (2007-2010). From the Alfa archives:According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 246356 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce (105.36), manufactured on the 14th September 1966 and sold on the 15th September 1966 to Alfa Romeo Inc., Newark, U.S.A.The body colour is hawthorn white, with leather skai interiors. I have a file folder full of receipts, some very interesting. It appears that the motor was completely rebuilt in 1970 in NY for a price of ~$1200 big money back then, and a lot to spend on a car that only cost $4k three years prior. The motor was again rebuilt in 1988 while in Long Beach. The car currently runs with a very nicely built 1750 from APE in 1998. Records show it was done right and with all new components. I have driven this car a total of 5k miles over the last year, most of that on rallies through northern california, all the while without a hicup. some rallies would amount to over 1500 miles in one weekend. The car has had a recent clutch/pressure plate as well as rebuilt calipers and new rotors. The motor pulls harder than many 2L engines i have driven and is by far the most enjoyable in terms of revs and torque band of any Alfa engine ive piloted. The 5 speed gear box shifts smoothly and it currently running Redline MTL fluid. The engine has always been run with synthetic and i continued the tradition. Records show shocks and most suspension bushings have been replaced in the last 10 years. Also has a nice sounding STEBRO exhaust system. The body is in good shape is rust free as far as i can tell. Door gaps are excellent which i attribute to the fact that the original door seals are in place, impossible to find reproductions that work, so i would keep these. Floors all seem to be solid as well. All glass is good and crack-free. This is a great car to drive as-is or restore. All brightwork is in good condition and it rides on the factory 15" steel wheels with hubcaps - very hard to find these days. Any other info, please feel free to ask. i am willing to work with shipping out of state or overseas, but the buyer must arrange it. Buy ones of these cars now while the prices are reasonable, they are quickly rising. Sports car marketplace listed Alfa GTVs, specifically stepnose '65-70 models, as cars to buy in 2010. This car is currently registered and located in Los Angeles, CA. NY plates are for fun and not included with the car.
