1961 Lincoln Continental A new styling change for the Continental included shaving 8 inches off the wheelbase and over 14 inches in length. The Industrial Design Institute awarded the designers of the 1961 Continental a bronze medal. Four headlights adorned the front grill and are displayed side by side. Also the infamous suicide doors that open to the center. Standard features on the Continental included a 430 cid V8 engine, automatic transmission, power windows, power brakes, and power steering.
