Here is the scoop: This is the third time I have listed this on Ebay in the last couple of weeks. PLEASE - if you do not intend on purchasing this vehicle, DO NOT BID! That said, here is the listing. I am starting this auction at the low price of $1,400 with NO RESERVE. This is being sold AS-IS. I was expecting this to sell two weeks ago, so at this point I just want to have this behind me. My loss is your gain....GOOD LUCK! Up for sale is a 1998 Land Rover Discovery Series I. I purchased this in October 2007 from a dealer in Tampa, FL for around $5,500 with 101,245 miles. I flew down from Michigan and drove it home. I still have all the papers and records from the purchase. A car fact check was done before I bought it and everything was clear - the paperwork on this is included in sale. I used this as a daily driver until a few months ago when I bought a newer car. This is our family's third car, and it is time it finds a new owner. My intent with the sale of this vehicle is to sell it with full disclosure - no false advertising here. This is an older car and it is not perfect. I have listed below all of the things I am aware are wrong with it, as well as all the items and issues that have been repaired in the last three years. This listing is accurate to the best of my knowledge. This is an older model Land Rover, and with that comes the realization that routine maintenance is critical to keeping this vehicle on the road. During the time I have owned it, I have been extremely proactive in the maintenance department. As I said, this was a daily driver for me for three years. I have two mechanics I can refer the buyer to in Grand Rapids, MI that know this vehicle and both will vouch for the fact that it is in great condition for a Series I. Since I purchased this vehicle in Oct. 2007, I have put more than $7,000 into maintenance and repair. Combining the purchase price in 2007 and the expenses since, I have over $12,000 invested in this vehicle. I always thought I would keep it indefinitely as I love these cars, but at this point it is not realistic to keep it just to keep it. This auction is starting at $1,500 with no reserve. Vehicle is to be picked up in Grand Rapids, MI. If delivery is needed, it is the responsibility of the buyer. This vehicle is also listed locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early if sold before the auction ends. I will start with the NEGATIVES:-the radio only works on WX weather band, face of unit is damaged, will not play cassette or AM/FM radio-the rear sunroof does not open, front sunroof works fine-rear wiper does not work-headliner is dropping (see pics)-small leak in roof somewhere, only noticeable if left out for several hours in driving rain, otherwise not an issue-needs a new battery (fine if driven daily, needs a boost if left for more than a few days)-cruise control does not work-the rear windows will only go up and down occasionally, front windows work fine-the rear door will only open from the inside, outside handle is stuck-engine seals are leaky - small drips of oil on garage floor, not enough to deplete oil level between oil changes-roof of car has paint fading (see picture)-body behind drivers-side rear tire, between tire and bumper is damaged, barely noticeable (see picture)-usual scrapes and scratches for a twelve year-old car-tires are not new, but have much life left-power locks only work on occasion-remote key only works on occasion (new battery might help?) To my knowledge, that is the outline of the problems this car has. Listed below are the repairs I have had done in the last three years: -new power steering gear box-front shocks replaced-new brakes-new spark plugs and new plug wires-new fuse box control unit-new charcoal fuel filter and vent mechanism-new cup holders in dash-new floor mats (when purchased in 2007)-transmission flush and periodic fluid change-oil change every 3,000 miles minimum, recently done in last 50 miles-new high pressure power steering hose I bought this car with the idea that I always wanted one, I would drive it for a few years and then store it indefinitely and always have it. I really intended this vehicle to be a "lifer". The timely execution of the maintenance and repairs while I have owned it had this idea in mind. Well, life happens, including kids and other family developments, and having a third vehicle just because I think it's cool just isn't a reality anymore. I have taken excellent care of this vehicle, it would be a great buy for someone looking for a nice early model Land Rover. Send me a message through Ebay if you have any additional questions.
