Vehicle Detail

SquareTrade © AP6.0 1964 PLYMOUTH SPORT FURY Pro Built Original 426 c.i. Street Wedge, 550-600HP "A True Factory Muscle Car" Only about 2500 miles since rebuild Close Ratio Four Speed, With Console, and Factory Hurst Shifter The original engine has been rebuilt with high performance parts inside and out. The engine compartment has been prepped and painted for show. It has new TTI headers, McLeod Street/Strip clutch, new brakes, wheel drums, and the short lines, have been replaced with new parts. Originally a Ruby Red car, The car had been an older restoration when I purchased it. Originally, it had a red interior, and they changed it to black, and the body painted white. The paint has bubbled in a couple spots, and there are some minor rust issues. Nothing major that I know of. It has year correct American Mags, not reproductions. I have no reason to believe this is not the original factory 426 Street Wedge engine. I checked the date on the block, as seen in the photos, and it matches the time period this car was built, just before it was shipped from the Lynch Rd. Plant, and sold by the dealer. This is a true 4 speed, sure grip, car, including the bucket seats, with the console. According to the engine builder, it's running somewhere between 550 to 600 HP, but has not been dyno'd. The rear gears are either 4:11;s or 4:56's, I never got around to checking them. I added two more cores to the radiator, so now it has four cores. I'bve never had an overheating problem, even when the California temperature was over 100 degrees. The speedometer cable is frayed, and needs replacing. When driving on the freeway, it reads 10 mph over what you are actually going. When it says 70mph, you're really driving 60mph. I was building it for show, not for racing. It's got the horse power, torque and gears, to take on any street/strip muscle car, if that's what you want. I've got a folder about 3 inches thick with receipts for parts and labor on the engine, TTI headers, McLeod clutch, Mopar valve covers, MSD distributor, MSD ignition, and MSD multi-spark with rev-limiter, and more information, and some receipts, from the previous owners. The engine was bored .030 over, and is running an Edelbrock Performance cam, Edelbrock intake, and a 750cfm Edelbrock Performer carb. The engine builder says I could go with a larger carb, or dual carbs, but I'm happy where it's at since I'm not racing it. It has enough torque now to bring the front end off the ground. The build plan was to use 3 inch exhaust pipes, but it still has the 2 1/2 inch pipes on it from when I bought it, with Flowmasters. The header collectors are 3 inch, so it's ready to convert to 3 inch without changing the collectors. I replaced the passenger side inner fender to make the engine compartment show quality. I'm running new Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS tires on the 1964 American Mags. Tires are (P225/70R14 M+S), and they are quite impressive, with great traction. The front wheels are each missing one lug bolt because they couldn't find the reverse thread bolts needed for it, and I haven't taken the time to find them. The car is documented by Chrysler Corp as #17 of 30 in VIN sequence of all 1964 426-4BBL Plymouth Sport Fury's accounted for at the Lynch Road, MI plant, and built to spec's for the U.S.A. Scheduled production date was January 28, 1964, and the casting date on the engine block is Jan 21, 1964. The block number is 2205697-2, and it is a 426 Street Wedge, not a Max Wedge, or Hemi. See the Chrysler/Govier documentation in my last four photos, with VIN breakdown, and fender tag breakdown. If you wish to see any other photos of the car, just send me a message with your email. There are no major dents, but there is a small bump on top of the hood, where it hit the air cleaner fastening bolt, which was too long at the time. This car has some minor rust areas. The cowl corners under the front windshield, the outboard trunk extensions, and a little behind the wheel well edges, just before the rear bumper. The trunk is solid and looks like it did from the factory, really nice. There is surface rust on the metal panel behind the back seat. I have new rubber window seals from "Steele Rubber", for both the front and rear windows, so they can be changed when the car is painted. They will go to whoever buys the car, as well as the original intake manifold, and any other parts I have. All of the aluminum trim is in great condition, with very few dents in them. The original designed inserts in the side moldings have not been polished away, so they will still have the original design in them if polished correctly. The front and rear bumpers look almost new, with very nice chrome. They were either replace, or re-chromed some time before I go the car. On the front bumper, on the driver's side, at the very outer edge of the curve from side to front, an old lady scraped her car door against it. She did not dent it, but you can see where it rubbed against it. The top chrome pieces running down the center of the hood and trunk, have pitting in them, as do the door handles and mirrors. These all should be re-chromed, or replaced. The mirrors will not stay where you adjust them to be. The door/ignition key does not work on the passenger door, so it would be easy to have that lock re-set to use the original key. The heater/defroster works well, though the heater/fan motor, sometimes makes a vibration noise when you first turn it on. It goes away after a few moments, and then is quiet running. All the gauges work except the tach, which is just sitting, not mounted, in the spot where the clock would be, if it had come with one. I never tried to hook it up since I got the MSD ignition installed. I'm not familiar with the wiring. It has the original radio, but I don't know if it works, and there is no power to it. It was apparently disconnected to hook up the Audiovox Rampage AV3000 AM/FM stereo cassette deck in the glove compartment, with one speaker at the normal place, in the top center of the dash, and one in the center, under the back window. Instead of left and right, you get front and back stereo sound. I don't know what kind of speakers are in it. I rarely listed to it anyway, I'd rather hear the awesome sound of the engine. This mileage on the odometer, as of today, is 65,152 miles. The title showed 62,586 actual as the actual mileage on the car, when I purchased it. I have no information to show any other mileage. I drive it once or twice a week to the store, and I've driven it to a couple car shows about 60 miles out of town, and never had a problem with it, just a lot of people looking, waving, honking, and a lot of thumbs up. I can't go anywhere without answering lots of questions, or lifting the hood and trunk to show how beautiful and original it is. The engine has about 2500 miles since the rebuild, and maybe 1000 or so miles since the brakes, cylinders, and drums were replaced. I've tried remember everything there is to know about the car. I've invested over $30k in this car, just to do it right, and have most the receipts from what I did, or what I bought. I wish I didn't have to sell it, but my family comes first. I hope someone can take it, and give it the final finishes it deserves. If you have any questions, please send me a message. Send a professional to inspect it, or come check it out yourself. I will be happy to answer any questions as best, and as accurately as I can. If you'd like to see it, call me at 818-477-2557. Just ask for David.
