This is a 1928 Ford AR Model A with the Snow Flyer addition. This is one of the finest original examples of a model A Snow Flyer (Snowmobile). This Snow flyer features 12”steel tracks with a third tag axle. The tracks are pushed by a set of ARPS Corporation special lug tires made for this set of tracks. They have not been produced for 50 years until 2006. Mounted just to the inside of the rear drive wheels you can find a set of 7 to 1 reduction hubs with brakes another special option. The engine is totally stock, except for the added heater on top of the exhaust manifold. The body started its life as a four door sedan, the cab of the truck is the rear compartment of the sedan slid forward to meet the windshield and front end, the cut-out in the body for track clearance is actually the rear tire well of the sedan, making it into the truck you see today. The Snow Flyer and the Snowmobile Model A’s were used to delivery mail in the winter to the upper states. As the storey goes this truck was used by a physician in Montana to make house calls in the winter. I purchased this Snow Flyer in 2006 from a gentleman in Sisters Oregon, he had stored in his barn for 15 years. I have spent the last 4 years refurbishing and trying to keep it as original as possible; I have not had it out in the snow yet. I went through the engine, tracks but it was in good shape.
