This is a great bus-it runs and is ready for someone to really fix her up:) She really needs a good home where she can be fully restored to her full potential!! (she would prefer a garage)I believe I am the 3rd owner~All information is honest to the best of my abilityI have had her for almost a year~the big plan was to completely restore, but now a doctoral program across the nation is calling out to me:) 1978 vw bus Automatic ~not many out there.... Type 2 ~ aircooled Customized license plates (tags good til 3/12) contact me for more info (Think 1970's, Simon & Garfunkel) I have the title All new tires from Les Schwab about 4,000 miles ago-have receipt. New wiper blades in February 2010-but has not been driven very much since then-they work great. About $1200 in recent work (December 2010)I have the receipts alternator replaced regulator replaced ground undertake replaced new battery two oil leaks taken care of (oil pressure switch replaced and valve cover gasket replaced) heater is back in working condition:) tires in good shape Runs real good I have not done any other cleaning or even tried to remove rust. Not sure when the current paint job was done, but it is coming off in spots and has a few light rust spots-see photos I have work/repair records for the past 7 or so year from the previous owners (since 2003) Problems: turn signals just stopped working (apparently it just needs a new switch, but have to take steering wheel apart-I have instructions of how to do it yourself for about $50 or less) McMinnville, OR VW gave me a quote of $175 to repair this. Gas gage stops working when tank is about 1/2 full-I just keep track of mileage, but was given a quote from MacVolkswagen (McMinnville) for $278 A few weeks ago, when it was about 20 degrees or below, she started, but wouldn't go anywhere-was fine later on when it warmed up a bit....maybe if I cleaned out my garage? The ceiling light near the front works fine-the one is the rear does not work-the cover is up inside the upholstery and I do not know what it will need to work.Other Info:Miles: 93,6XX original -only about 2,000 miles in the past 7 years Back seat has two seatbelts Middle seat has no seatbelts and is not in the greatest of shape ~see photos Two front seats have ZEBRA covers (ooolala) and seatbelts work fine glove compartment has a clip on it to open-don’t know what happened to handle I have one working key and I also have two extra volkswagen keys that haven’t been cut yet. Rust is not too bad-in just a few places -should sand down well....see photos no holes, floor mats in good shape No emblem on front (the little green one in photos is a magnet)no current radio system Comes with a fabulous mini discoball (when the sun hits it just right you have your very own discotheque~no LSD required) and 3 blankets ( a wool one in the back and two orange polyester over middle seat) that have been with it since the original owner. Have lots of photos-email for more-some taken before new license plates Email with any other questions and I will do my best to answer promptly. On Jan-22-11 at 11:31:40 PST, seller added the following information: IMPORTANT NOTE: In the event that a scammer is the winning bidder and is non-paying (it happens, unfortunately) the bus will either1) Be offered to the next highest bidder2) Be relisted In the event that someone decides to bid with no intention of being of honest or paying~Remember: Karma sucks :) when you are naughty. On Jan-23-11 at 15:08:56 PST, seller added the following information: Update:I had someone take a closer look at the bus and have found a little rust under the mat on the passenger side and a bit more on the drivers side. I have taken four new photos that shoe the rust close up. On the driver's side there is a hole smaller than my thumb-which is in the photo to show size representation. I apologize for not including this earlier as I was unaware of it. I will email the current bidders. Please email for the photos as I am unable to upload any new ones. Thank you
