Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1924 Dodge. I am fabricator/welder/CAD design/ artist that loves to build hot rods. This was my first hot rod that I built from the ground up. In 2005, I started with a 1930 Chevy frame. The boxing plates were designed on CAD, complete with lightening holes, and then cut out on my CNC plasma cutter. I then welded the boxing plates in with my TIG welder. The front end is a Speedway 4” dropped axle with Speedway hair pin radius rods and ’48 Ford spindles and backing plates. I also converted the hubs and front brakes to accept Buick 45 fin aluminum brake drums. It stops great. The rear end is a Ford 9” with 3.73 gears. I made my own rear hair pin style ladder bars for the back. The rear end is suspended with a ’32 Ford transverse spring. The front wheels are original 1940 Ford 16” x 4” solids and the rears are ’48 4 ½” wide solids. The tires are 8.90 x 16 and 5.00 x 16 Firestone dirt track tires. The tires alone cost over $900. The engine is a 305 small block Chevy. The engine is a good runner that is reliable and gets decent mileage. It does not smoke or make noises, I did put a gear drive on it, so it has that blower whine sound to it! It was pulled from a friends wrecked ’84 ElCamino. I dressed the motor up with a polished aluminum intake, Vintage Speed 2x2 adaptor with two rebuilt Holley 94’s. The stacks were made from a driveshaft that I twisted in half in my ’48 F-1. The transmission is a TH350 that shifts great. The body is a ’24 Dodge pickup body. I chopped the top 6”. The chop is about 70% done, and needs to be finish welded. As far as the rest of the body, I have made supports for the lower frame, and floor supports, and the latch still needs to be installed in the passenger’s side door, so the door is hinged, but is tacked shut for now. The driver’s door is latched with a bear claw latch. I have the bear claw latch for the passenger’s side that goes with it. The rest of the body needs patch panels, and general panel work. The bed is a 1922 Hudson bed that I shortened 7”. It has some cool patina with old pin striping on it. The gas tank is a 10 gallon spun aluminum gas tank. Overall this is a great little hot rod truck. It runs and drives and has a title. It is registered as a ’24 Dodge, and is registered to the 1924 California plates that are on the truck. The truck runs and drives, but I would consider it an unfinished project that I am selling “as is”. I am selling it so I can get my ’35 Ford pickup running. If you have any question you can contact me at bss808@hotmail.com I accept cash or Pay Pal. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping. Or you can pick it up at my house.
