Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a red 1992 Mazda Miata MX-5 with a clear Tennessee title. The VIN is JM1NA3515N0318449. I bought this car about a year ago. I drove it as my primary car until August when I bought a new car. I am uncertain of the accuracy of the odometer, because a previous owner replaced the original engine with a 1990 engine and I don’t know when the speedometer was reattached. The odometer reads around 75,000. In the state of Tennessee it is considered “mileage exempt” because it is over 10 years old. Details about the car in no particular order or format: The car runs, but the idle is all screwed up because I think the O2 sensor is bad. You will probably be better off trailering the car out of the parking lot; however, you might be able to buy the $17.00 O2 sensor, install it and drive it away, I don’t know… It began to not work properly last week. Until last week, the car was running fine. This is not the reason I want to sell the car. I want to sell the car because I have more projects than I can or want to deal with at this time. I have to draw the line somewhere. I have listed it locally for the past two weeks, but everybody responding either wants to trade me a pig for it or can’t discern from my clear description that some of the interior is dismantled. I replaced every exterior light on the car this past September to avoid the excessively aggressive piggy winks found in this area. I had intended to fix it up as I drove it, but I could never find the time to complete it. I removed most of the interior because I had planned to redo it, replace the door panels and seat covers, but never did. The interior is included with the vehicle in 4 large liquor boxes. The fabric backrest of the passenger seat cover is torn up pretty bad. One of the previous owners used the car for pizza delivery. I had it repainted about six months ago in the original red. The paint job is a C+, with some over spray and drips, but it is decent looking. New battery as of October. I have three keys for the car. The passenger side door lock cylinder broke and was removed from the car. It is in one of the four liquor boxes accompanying the car. I also have many extra screws and fasteners sorted into small plastic bags in one of the liquor boxes. Also a pair of nice, thick rubber floor mats in there somewhere. I had the 3 galvanized panels behind the seats sand blasted and powder coated semi gloss black, as well as the passenger footrest/ECU cover and trunk fuel guard. If you are familiar with Miatas you no doubt have seen how these galvanized panels develop a gross, white, chalky coating on them. Previous owner put a new windshield in it because it caught a rock from a dump truck. Nice & clear with no sandblast like what you would expect from an older car’s windshield. The car was involved in an accident two owners before me. The right front was hit. The repair seems good. The damage was not significant enough to total out the car or necessitate a salvage title. The previous owner put air horns on it that sound better than the OEM ones. The floorboard area under the seats has some surface rust, but not all the way though. I added a JDM Eunos (Japanese name for the Miata) wooden Nardi Classico steering wheel. You will need to install the correct wheel hub for the horns to work (this correct new hub is also included with the vehicle, as is the Nardi horn button in one of the liquor boxes.) I have a new Pioneer CD/MP3 player head unit I had intended to install which I am including with the vehicle. The valve cover gasket needs to be replaced because it leaks. It doesn't burn much oil; sometimes a puff on start-up after it's been sitting for a week or so. Also included is an extra properly functioning ECU I had planned on having flashed for higher fuel output. I wanted to install it in the glove box. The carpet in the trunk has been removed, degreased and washed, in good condition inside one of the boxes. The sticky coating in the trunk has been stripped out of the trunk down to the galvanized metal finish. You will probably want to either paint it the same red as the rest of the car or black. Whenever I would put groceries in the trunk, the greasy stuff would get on the grocery bags, my clothes, and everything else that touched it. On a side note, the auto body guy was supposed to paint the trunk when he painted the rest of the car, but I suspect he ran out of crystal meth and forgot. I dropped the car off to have it painted, and when I picked it up a week later it had no gas and an extra 237 miles on it. Apparently this guy was out running errands like the guys in the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The interior carpet is not wonderful and I would probably opt to replace it. It is torn along the right side of where the driver’s legs go. The heater blower is removed and in one of the boxes, and the heater box under the dash is partially removed because I was trying to clean leaves and debris from it. I never finished this task. Before I removed the blower fan and box, the A/C and heater functioned properly. Once the leaves and debris is removed and the box and blower reinstalled, I believe it would work very well. All 4 wheel covers are currently on the car, even though they are not shown in the pictures. Over ½ a tank of gas in it. That counts for something, right? When I evaluate the car, I can add up over $1500 worth of parts, so this is how I arrive at the buy it now price of $1600. I will gladly work with you and/or your transport agency to ship the car.
