1927 Willys-Overland Whippet NO RESERVE, NO RESERVE, NO RESERVE! THIS CAR WILL SELL TO HIGHEST BIDDER! Here we have a nice Whippet Model 96 4-cylinder, two-door sedan in running condition. The car has a solid body and fenders, no signs of rust or major former collision repair. The wood is in excellent condition all around with no signs of rot. The car is finished in medium blue over black fenders and although I am not positive this looks like thesame color as other Whippets I have seen and is probably an original, factory color. The paint is presentable as isfor a driver, but has the usual nicks, chips, and "garage wear" you always find on an older refurbishment.The top is in great shape, being good and tight and done in the correct cobra leatherette. The car sits upstraight and does not sag or lean as many older cars do (the photos were taken on a slight incline) The battery is new as is the voltage regulator (not stock). The ammeter shows a good charge and the oil pressurereads around 40 lbs at "speed." There are no horrible leaks that would need immediate attention. The speedometer is not hooked up and is itself, frankly, a little shabby. The wooden steering wheel is inexcellent condition and the lights and horn switches are original and functional. It has the correct aahoogahhorn that will scare anyone in your path! No major parts are missing. The headlight lenses are correct Overland script and in nice shape as are the buckets. The seats, headliner, and rear carpet are in excellent condition. The chrome-plated bumpers are nice and shiny. It will need new kick panels down below and possibly door panels at some point down the road. This little Whippet starts up and runs every time. It's had recent extensive brake work, and fitted with a completely rebuilt vacuum tank and a replacement carburetor (the original is almost impossible to find). It has four whitewall tires that are also in good condition and a black wall spare with a new cover. There are some little things that need attention. There is a b-b hole in the rear glass on the passenger's side and the windshield has scratches. There is one very small crease in the right front fender (shown in photos). The car could use an axle shaft replacement on the rear passenger's side (I have the shaft and it goes with the car). There is an occasional squeal which I think - but am not positive - is either the fan shaft bearing or the water pump. One rear wheel could use some tightening. I will include a reprint shop manual with purchase. The only things NOT included -- read carefully -- are the 1927 California plate shown and the large STOP light on the right rear. There is a lot of value here. It's a solid car that just needs some small mechanical attention and itis recession priced to sell! The car is sold where is, as is, FOB Albuquerque N.M. and this is an absolute auction - highest bidder owns the car. I have an open, marketable Texas title that I have not transferred.
