Vehicle Detail

For Sale: One Mercedes Benz G wagon, model 460, 300GD Short Wheel Base Year: 1980Engine: Mercedes 300 diesel non-turbo (same bomb proof 5 cyl. engine found in the wagons and sedans sold in the US)Transmission: 4 speed manual Mileage: Unknown (odometer is not working, stuck at 77702 KMTitle: Not issued. This vehicle was personally imported after it was 25 years old. The person I purchased it from did not get it titled, and I always registered it as an antique auto which doesn't require a title. Youtube Video Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByoUs-FV8lI Short History: I bought this truck on ebay in the spring of 05' with intention of restoring it. I was looking for a 4 wheel drive diesel, that I could run WVO and biodiesel. I ended up switching my energy into swapping a diesel into my toyota pickup. The mercedes sat for much of the time until the summer of 09' when the head on the toyota went and I needed a truck to drive. This is when I did the work on the front axial, put new tires on it and fixed the small oil leak at the oil sensor. I drove it for local trips for the two months that summer while I waited for a new head for my toyota. Once the toyota got back on the road, the G went back into its parking spot, and back onto the project list. I really don't want to let this truck go, and really wanted to do a body off restoration, but with a little one on the way, I need to be realistic. That being said I do not want to give the truck away. $4,500 is my starting price and my lowest price, please do not email me with lower offers. I listed this earlier this fall on ebay, but didn't have the time to keep up with questions I received. I tried to answer everyone's earlier questions with the new description and youtube video. Condition: Recent work completed... front wheel bearings and seals, tie rods, ball joints, steering stabilizer, steering linkage, new tires, oil filter sensor and gasket. Truck starts right up and drives straight down the road. Transmission shifts smoothly, transfer case switches between 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel high and low smoothly. The front wheel differential lock works well, great for pulling anything out of a ditch. The rear differential level is suck, I haven't checked it out but I assume it's just a broken or seized linkage. There is no a/c, this G wagon did not come with it. Does not leak any fluids The bad: -The interior is in pretty rough shape. See video for specifics. - Rust... Quite a bit of body rust, in two particular areas. Both front floorpans are rusted out with growing holes, new metal will need to be welded in. I quickly covered the largest hole on the drivers side with a screwed down sheet of stainless, just to get it on the road. The second area is around the rear door. I showed some closeups of the both areas on the video. - No heat... It looks as though the blower motor is still intact, but nothing works when switched on. The lower dash is missing along with section that runs through the firewall for air intake. - No records... I purchased this g wagon in 2005 from some sleaze ball in Florida, with intention of restoring it. Other than the manuals (in german) and a purchase agreement, it came with no additional paperwork. - Rear driver side light, turn signal... does not work, I believe because of a electrical wire short. I continues to blow flues when turned on. Pick-up and Shipping: - Once I receive money for the truck, you are welcome to pick up the vehicle personally or have it shipped. I would recommend not driving the truck more 100 miles home, before doing a major run through of all the systems. If your planning on shipping the G wagon (highly recommended), you should get quotes to ship from Greenwood, ME 04255. Vehicle is for sale where is, as is. No warranties, and no temp. plates available.
