Vehicle Detail

It is with deep regret that I offer my beloved "Sarah", a 1989 K5 Scottsdale. I ordered her new in the summer of 1988 from Meissner Chevrolet of Glenolden, Pennsylvania at the total price of $19,181.00 and took delivery in October. Her options included deep tinted glass, electric tailgate window (not working), stainless steel outside rearview mirrors, automatic transmission, air conditioning, locking differential, engine and trans oil coolers, fuel tank and transfer case skid plates, heavy duty radiator, towing package, automatic locking hubs, quad front shock absorbers, conventional two-tone paint (Summit White/Fire Red), and Saddle vinyl interior. I have all paperwork from day one, including the window sticker. If you know your Blazers, you are aware that there aren't many 1989-91 Scottsdales originally ordered with two-tone paint, as was normally the case with the top-line Silverado models. I, however, didn't want the plush interior, preferring the vinyl upholstery and rubber floor covering. And I didn't like the Silverado grille either, so this is a very uniquely-optioned truck. The post-mount Unity hand spotlight and the front auxiliary lights are the only modifications. Nothing else, including the suspension, has ever been tampered with. I would keep her forever, but I have no room for her now with a new project I've taken on, and after driving her daily for 20 years (and loving every minute of it), she is no longer roadworthy due to severe rust. Mechanically, she is fine with 191,114 miles (trans was rebuilt at 181,000 after it finally failed). The engine has never been apart but still runs smoothly with only a wisp of light smoke at start-up. The engine oil was changed religiously every 3000 miles and the trans fluid every 6000. The air compressor was replaced around 1998 and still blows cold. Now, for the bad news. She was always the cleanest Blazer in the neighborhood due to my fanatical detailing, but at some point I just couldn't keep the cancer at bay. Right now, she needs a tailgate, both doors, both rocker panels, floor pans immediately behind the seats and the interior walls next to them (see photos). Somehow, the front floors have remained solid, and the rear quarters aren't too bad yet. I have many replacement floor panels and the rocker panels which will go with it. I did replace the front fenders and back half of the floor and tailgate mounts some time ago in a desperate effort to keep them from literally falling off (not to mention passing annual inspection). The battery tray is a bit messed up, not totally secured from my body shop guy incorrectly installing the fender. The frame is fine. Finally, the driver's door cannot be opened from inside or outside, nor does the lock work. The passenger door and its lock work fine, but rubs against the fender pretty badly when opened. The truck has not been on the road since 2008, but has been started relatively regularly and occasionally driven around the yard. The radio, all guages, parking and service brakes all work perfectly, but she does need to be towed just to be safe (and legal). The BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires (32X12.50LT) have lots of tread left and refuse to go flat. The battery has gone dead in the past month, but I can almost guarantee that she can immediately be jump-started and driven onto your trailer. Bring your cables! I will not provide shipping. All I want for my old girl is to have a good second life with someone who is as Blazer-crazy as I am and wants a much-loved, one-owner truck which just happens to need extensive metal work. Please feel free to contact me for more information. Thanks, Roy
