Vehicle Detail

The car was cosmetically restored in the eighties. I've been told only MK I reproduction grills were available at that time. The car has always been in Oregon (no salt). The previous owner purchased the car in 1990 from the original owner. Unfortunately he promptly parked the car, and stored it very poorly. BODY: Overall pretty solid. I believe it to be a factory red car. I can find no evidence of repaired collision damage. The nose and grill surround area look to have the correct contours. The dog leg portion of the rear fenders are rusted. The rockers look ok. The trunk floor is solid. The frame has surface rust but is sound. The paint, while it might look ok in photos is not good. The car looks to have been covered with a tarp for a time and it has made the paint bubble. I think stripping will reveal a decent body. The paint that is on the car has been there for a long time. Engine: The MG has received the common 1800cc upgrade at some point. It has been stored with the air cleaners off, and the motor is now stuck. I've put some penetrating oil in the cylinders, and rocked it a bit - no luck. After soaking for more time, you may be able to work it free. According to the previous owner, the car ran and drove well before it was parked. Personally I'd plan on an engine rebuild, these are relatively cheap engines to mess with. All of the instruments are accounted for and decent. The only missing item I know of is the battery cover. The car has a clear Oregon title that matches the number on the ID tag. *** This car needs a complete restoration! It does not run! The paint won't "buff out"! If you manage to un-seize the motor it might rattle, smoke, be "blown" or a combination of all three!*** I'm not a MG guy so I don't really know what an A in this condition is worth. I'm certain it's worth more than the $2000 I'm starting the auction at though. There is no reserve, and I plan to let the auction run until the end. I require an immediate $200 deposit via paypal. You can ONLY USE PAYPAL FOR THE DEPOSIT. The balance is due within 7 days. Wire transfer, Cashiers check or coin of the realm are acceptable forms of payment.
