Vehicle Detail

1989 GMC SIERRA K2500 Extended cab long bed 4x4, newer 350 TBI engine, rebuilt 700R4 trans. Light 3/4 ton (six bolt rims), with 1 ton rear springs. I bought this truck to build a plow truck for a property, deal fell through, don't need a plow truck any more. Lots of good things about this truck, a few not so great things. Here's what I can honestly tell you about the truck: I bought it this winter, drove it 50 miles to get it home, no problems (except for no reverse, but got that fixed!). The kid I bought it from said the engine and tranny were out of a newer truck with low miles, no way to back that up. Engine runs strong, no smoke, noise, leaks. Replaced plugs, rotor, filters. Installed new battery, started right up today in 10 degree wind chill factor. We just had a bad snow storm before I bought it, kid said he broke the reverse sun gear in the tranny tryin' to get it out of a drift. Took the tranny and transfer case to Cottman, had the tranny redone, the t-case checked over and fluid changed. Installed new t-case actuator, everything works fine. Then I took it to my mechanic, got it ready for inspection. Replaced some brake lines, now the brakes are fine, pass. Front end needed tie rod ends, pass. Exhaust passes. Lights and heater work. All glass is good. Tires all pass, but could used replaced, gettin' pretty worn out. It needs body work for inspection (surprise!), but overall, not that bad. The cab corners are patched badly, and the inners behind them need work too. The outer rockers are bad, but overall the rest of the main body is not that bad. The door sills, the floor, and the body mounts are all good and solid. I have a pair of good quality full cab corner patches that I'll include if the bidding goes over 1,000 (who knows? crazier thing have happened!), otherwise you can have 'em for 50 bucks. The bed's kinda shabby, but just needs some sheet metal around the right side wheel arch to pass inspection, it's solid underneath. Fenders are rough around the edges, but again, should pass with a little bondo or sheet metal. The frame - very solid. Lots of these trucks rust through between the cab and bed, this one's real nice. Right up near the front bumper, there's a small hole, but it's an easy patch. So, overall, it's not a bad truck! It's not new, by any means, and definitely needs some patching and TLC. But it's a good foundation for a plow truck, work truck, trail truck, or even a decent beater with a few odds and ends. Worst comes to worst, it would make a good parts vehicle with the rebuilt trans, good engine, new battery, etc. Pickup in Homer city, PA, about an hour NE of Pittsburgh, between Blairsville and Indiana, PA. Somebody's gonna get a lot of use out of this truck, maybe you? A $100.00 deposit is requiered within 48 hours of the sale. GOOD LUCK, HAPPY BIDDING!
