Vehicle Detail
“Saved/Barn Yard Find/Fastback” This is a 1966 Fastback Mustang saved from someone who just had too many projects. Short story is it was done in Pompano Beach Florida at Major Motorcars. Mike and Tony are very qualified and respected restorers. Car was turned in a cloned GT350 replica thru them. Interior changed to black, roll bar added and rear delete kit installed. GT40 crate engine and T5 conversion installed. Car was 90% finished and driven down the street to Mustang Specialties. The seller’s brother is the owner of MS. Car was parked in the back, tinkered with then left for 4yrs outside with customers’ cars. Owner had too many toys and not enough time to finish or enjoy this car. So it sat for no reason but no attention and he would not sell it. I asked and tried for at least 3 yrs when funds permitted. Cars information from Ford Motor Company Data plate: Warranty Number: 6T09C122278 Year: 6 1966 Plant: T Metuchen, NJ Body Series: 09 2+2 Fastback Engine: C 289 2v V8 Unit: 122278 122278 Miscellaneous Vehicle Data Body: 63A 2+2 Fastback, Standard Interior Color: Y Silver Blue Metallic Trim: 22 Lt. Blue Crinkle Vinyl and Blue Rosette Vinyl, Standard Interior Date: 07K October 07, 1965 D.S.O: 23 Philadelphia Axle: 6 2.80:1, Conventional Trans: 6 C4 Automatic From title I received the car was never titled in the buyers name, still had prior owners name on title which showed 2004 and prior issue was 1978. So why not White paged him on the net, BAM there he is. So Mr. WV was taken back from the call, since the car has been out of the family since 2004. To my surprise I found out it had been in the family since 1978. Wife’s car she drove to her job, ready for it “school teacher”. I can not make it up. They would go to shows with the car and they gave it to her son in 2004. Which sold it to some guy who’s brother had a Mustang shop. Hence it comes around to me buying it from him. Asked him about the condition of the car and he said it was in great shape w/little or no rust but all in all a great car for them. I am sure we can contact him if anyone needs more history on the car. Engine: As data plate shows it is an original A code 289/c4 car. Now it is a GT40 equipped roller motor. Engine was purchased as a crate engine from a local FMS dealer. Installed, broken in and then no miles where put on it. Car has a roller camshaft as it lobes and sounds like a Stage III cam. Has Edelbrock Air gap intake installed, topped with a Speed Demon smooth choked carburetor. I am assuming a nice 600 or 650cfm. I have not run down the part # to verify size on the Demon. Single serpentine belt for alternator and water pump. Simple, easy and straight forward design. Engine starts up with one touch of the key, runs great. Sounds great and will turn heads every time. Cooling system: Car has a simple system. Griffin Aluminum radiator with a Flexlite fan bolted up. Constant fan, which needs to be put on a thermo switch. Saves fan life and battery draw. For now it is wired to key to turn it on or off. Runs around 165degrees idling in driveway. Interior: New seat upholstery(small marks), new carpet, new rear delete kit, roll bar, new headliner, complete Autometer gauges in dash cluster(need speedo cable). Dash has been painted, doors painted also, as it was originally a blue interior scheme. Needs the heater bezel and knobs (lost), radio and a few small pieces. I could not hunt down the rear seat, builder probably sold it. All door handles, arm rest and vent windows work. I would replace dash mat as it was installed crappy near window. Windows roll up and down no problem. Door locks need to be lubed as driver side is stiff to push down, passenger one locks. I have new ignition and door locks Exterior: This car sat outside for 4yrs in the South Florida sunshine, rain, hurricanes and tropical storms. No cover. Paint still shines and reflects, looks great for being exposed for so long. No peeling or having in paint. Stripes are period correct for the reproduction. Seem less transfer from stripe to paint. Paint has been clay barred, compounded and hazed. Waxed to a slick shine. Has some chips and a dent on roof due to tree incident. Easily fixed from inside by a qualified dentless repair guy. No other dents in car. Car is straight……Has American Racing SS thrust on the car. I do have the center caps. Needs tires due to sitting. http://s1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff454/antman92lx/?start=all Overall: Car has sat, any rust in car is the only rust that will comeback on it. Car has some rust issues which are pictured on my Photobucket acct. I am selling this car to someone who wants a nice car they can finish off and make their own or drive for now then restore. I can be contacted for any questions on the car. Car is available for inspection 954 709 6654 Anthony or email me at antman92lx@gmail.com Car is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end the auction due to local sale. Buyer must supply a $500 deposit within 48hrs of purchase. Buyer is responsible for delivery of item and transportation for vehicle or legal insurance on the car prior to taking the car.
