Vehicle Detail
1928 Studebaker Pickup - Dealer Conversion The Dealers took a few '28 Studebaker Sedans and converted them into pickups for use by farmers. Studebaker did not make a pickup until 1937. This one was purchased in California and then sold to a farmer in Montana. He eventually retired it to a barn where it was housed for many years. It was last licensed in 1956. The original six cylinder motor is complete with all the parts still in tact. It will need a fuel pump, points, rotor, cap and a battery. The motor turns over good. I tried to start it but am not getting a spark. I think it would run with the above parts installed, which are available on eBay. Most of the wood will need replaced, but there is not much, just in the cab. It is there for a pattern still mostly intact. The fenders, cowl, and hood are in decent shape with no rust through. The only rust areas are the bottom of the cab and a little on the bed. The windshield is broken but the side glass and rear window are in good condition. The truck has not been cut up or modified in any way except by the dealer conversion. I did put a new floor in the cab. The original gauges and heater are still in tact. It has the original wood spoke wheels which are in good condition for their age, and still usable. The wheels are 20" spokes. The seat has the back spring and bottom moulding, but no bottom spring. The bucket seats are just sitting on the floor and not bolted down. I have the original 1935 title, (a duplicate) issued in Montana which is signed off. The front and rear fenders are very solid with plenty of metal to straighten them. (Only minor dents.) The top is missing the sheetmetal and the wood slats on the top will need replaced. The mechanical brakes seem to work, and the clutch and transmission also seem to be in working order. It also comes with a hand crank, that also works. It is missing the left side rear bumper but the right side is there. I do not know what the make of the bed is. There is no name on it. This is a very unique truck and easily restorable. I would be available to help with loading. The price is very reasonable considering it's condition. This is a "NO RESERVE".
