Vehicle Detail
Okay bidders.........it's getting crunch time and it is nearing the holidays so seeing that I am a motivated seller, I have dropped the Buy-It-Now price on this by $1500.00 and I have dropped the starting bid by $400.00 with no reserve to $3600.00. I would really like to see this go to a home where it will get it's finishing touches. ALSO, IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE VIN # DOESN'T "CHECK OUT" VIA THE CARFAX OPTION ON THE LISTING PAGE. I have checked out numerous other cars this year & older and it brings up the same cannot identify on all of them. I have a clean title that is ready to transfer on this as well as the original bulid sheet. This is the model that Petty & Yarobourgh drove NASCAR in back in 1976!! Welcome Oldsmobile Cutlass enthusiasts! I have a 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass "S" 2 DR Coupe - NASCAR Edition up for your bidding. This car is in excellent condition and I fully stand behind everything that I will list about it. When I purchased the car in 2005, it was in its total original state. The paint was faded, however the interior was almost perfect and the body & frame themselves were virtually rust free. You can still read most of the factory stickers & such underneath the car and you will find that every weep hole on the body panels still have the original rubber covers and they are still nice & soft. The couple who had this was beyond retired and only drove during the fair weather months and it was garaged all of the time. I elected to have a body shop take the original finish all the way off so I could verify the condition of the car. It is a total original body from GM with no rust whatsoever. The body shop suggested a three time process of using a special etch primer with only hand block sanding in between coats to make for a perfect painting surface. The total amount of body filler in this car would fit within the palm of your hand and 90% of that was sanded off so you can magnet this car anywhere without fail. The finish was a PPG base coat/clearcoat matched to the original color. I elected not to paint any of the door jambs or hidden areas so that I was able to prove the car was in the condition that I claim. I buffed them by hand together to blend nicely. The body shop bill on this was $3100.00 total. I have the original AM radio for this however I did have a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/Satellite radioninstalled along with new speakers, amp and bass box as the car is large inside and it needed the bass to make the sound correct. No sheet metal was cut or altered to add this to the car. I have all of the paperwork for said installation and it was over $1400.00. The front & rear bumpers are 100% ORIGINAL AND HAVE NOT BEEN ALTERED OR REFINISHED IN ANY WAY. I would have them refinished if it was my project to finish. This car came factory with a 350-4 with an automatic transmission and it remains, however, it is NOT IN THE CAR. I removed the engine/transmission in order to regasket, steam clean and paint and detail so that it would look better at shows. I was laid off from work two weeks after pulling the engine/transmission and it has set on a stand covered & sealed since. I guarantee that the engine runs perfectly and doesn't use oil or smoke in any way. It does have the typical Olds real seal drip though. The transmission also is guaranteed to be in goods working order, however, it does have a need for a selector shaft seal before it goes back into the car. Tires are 255/70 R 15 on the front and 275/70R15 on the rear. They are Dunlop GT Qualifiers with RWL. These are mounted on Cragar S/S chrome wheels. This car drives and handles beautifully and is as advertised. NADA RETAIL values on the car can be looked at. Today it values at $14,000.00 in the condition that it is in. I REALIZE THAT IT MAY NOT BRING THAT DOLLAR, HOWEVER, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT GO TO SOMEONE WHO WOULD COMPLETE IT & TAKE CARE OF IT. You will find just a handful of 1976 NASCAR Edition Cutlass' left on the road and I really only know of about 80 that are anywhere near the condition of this. I do have a clear title ready to go to the new owner. And before I forget...I do have the original build sheet too. It has black on black vinyl interior. It is equipped with bench seats and is in excellent condtion. You can eat off the floors in this car as well as the trunk floor. I ONLY HAVE ONE PICTURE ON THE LISTING, HOWEVER YOU CAN REQUEST MORE IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY INTERESTED. I am located in Lower Western Michigan. The car is in storage at my former residence in the eastern Upper Peninsula currently. THE MILEAGE IS ACTUAL MILEAGE!!! IT HAS NOT BEEN "ROLLED OVER" OR "ALTERED" IN ANY WAY!!! All glass is original & intact too. I'd say that a new owner eventually would want to start replacing some of the door seals. They are readily available about anywhere. NOTICE THE TRIANGULAR OPERA WINDOWS. THIS & THE GRILL ARE THE DIFFERENCE MAKERS BETWEEN THE STANDARD CUTLASS AND THE NASCAR EDITION CUTLASS. There is a small crack in the L side front turn signal lens and a teeny crack in the fiberglass near it but barely noticeable. You see the starting price listed. There is no reserves on this vehicle whatsoever. I have started the bidding at a fair amount that is much less than half of it's actual value with hopes that it goes to a caring individual who appreciates Olds muscle cars like I do. You can't go wrong at this price. Email me with any questions and/or requests please. A $1000.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT is required within 24 hours of auction end. Balance to be paid based on an agreement of buyer and myself after deposit has been made. Good Luck everyone! 11/16/2010 - I just added a few pics that my daughter tried to get for me. It was a lot for her to get it out of the storage building to get these but she is going to take some more detailed pics tomorrow. The body pics look a little funny because of the flash and the cloud reflection on the base/clear. The pic of the front clip also is not rust...it is some dust on the front edges of the hood. There is also dust on most of the car as it has been sitting in enclosed storage. It is also 100% rodent free. All interior foams and wiring are are original from the factory. The trunk area, fender wells and the floor pans underneath the carpet are also 100% rust free and rock solid. Again...this car is 100% rust free in the body and is 100% factory original equipment. I will post a pic of the build sheet for it tomorrow as well. Thanks! 11/17/10 - Okay.....I have posted the remainder of the pics that were taken today. As you look at these, you will notice that the condition of the car is as I described. No polish, no spray paint in the wheelwells or anything like that to hide anything. This is the real deal when it comes to a 35 year old car in excellent shape. Pay close attention to the door jambs and such. Remember, these were not painted when the car was repainted. Those areas are actually original paint with no touchups or buffing. I wanted to show everyone the ACTUAL condition of the car and I believe this should answer the questions that I have received. I can only post 25 pics at a time so I had to remove some of the interior pics. If you didn't see them, please contact me and I would be happy to email them to you. Thanks!
