Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 2001 Toyota Prius with 160K miles. The car has been driven regularly, and is in nice condition, except.... The large high voltage battery has gone bad, and I have decided to sell the car instead of fixing it. The error code P3006, and related codes are produced. (Toyota charges about $3000 to replace this battery, and cheaper options may be available on the internet.) Other known problems: (1) The air conditioning system has a gradually worsening problem. In hot weather it sometimes stops working and the A/C light starts blinking. Turning the A/C off and back on again usually gets it going again. The condition does not produce any error codes, and a couple attempts by mechanics to fix it were unsuccessful because it refused to malfunction in the shop while they were monitoring it. (2) The left rear tail light is cracked, but sealed, and is not leaking. (3) The ashtray is missing. (4) Some of the buttons on the center console do not light up at night. (5) The front brakepads are getting low and may need to be replaced before long. (6) The car has been in a few minor accidents over the years, but they have been repaired, and the body is in good shape, as can be seen in the pictures. Features: In addition to the standard equipment, the car has: (1) a remote starter, so it can be warmed up in the winter, (2) a CD player in addition to the tape player, and (3) cruise control (which wasn't available as original equipment in 2001, but was added later). In addition, the front tires are nearly new, and we recently had the ABS actuator replaced by Toyota (a very expensive repair). As can be seen in the pictures, the electronic displays are working fine. For gas mileage, my wife usually got in the low 40's mpg in the summer and high 30's mpg in the winter. To the best of my knowledge, this car would work correctly and could be put back on the road if it had a new HV battery, BUT THIS IS IN NO WAY A GUARRANTEE OR WARRANTY THAT THE CAR CAN BE FIXED FOR ANY REASONABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY. IT IS BEING SOLD AS-IS. Buyer must provide a way to transport the car. I don't think it can be driven any significant distance in its present condition.
