Vehicle Detail
You are looking at an absoultley Beautiful 450 SL. I purchased the car about 10 years ago from a man in Dallas TX. It was a daily driver for him, and I also drove it regularly for about four years. Never had any issues or problems while driving the car. However my ineterst were diverted when I purchased a restored '57 Chevy Del Air and a '68 Firebird convertible, and I began to drive and spend time with these new purchases. I have an eight-car garage and the Merceds was securly stored in the garage with a cover, ever since I stopped driving it regularly. I do start it weekly, and run it for a time, and take it on short drives ( minimum of 10 miles) monthly to ensure that all mechanical parts are properly lubricated. I feel that these high performance cars always run and perform better when they are driven daily. I did notice last year when driving the car that the A/C was not cooling properly, and I put it in the shop and had it repaired and replaced the compressor, along with a minor tune up at a cost of approximtly $ 3,000. I have records and receipts for the restorataion and for maintenance as far back as 1990. I also have records of the two previous owners, one of which was primarly responsible for the complete cosmetic restoration. This restoration incuded new paint, new factory correct leather interior, new carpets, new Mercedes chrome wheels, new chorme on exterior, I also replaced the tires a couple years ago with new Michelin radials, and they probably have less than 500 miles on them. It comes with the removable hard top, which was a part of the restoration, and I have a special bracket that connects to the top to suspend it from above for ease in installing , which is included. There is a very small nagging oil drip that appears on the garage floor after driving for some distance, just a few drops and never affects the performance, just a distraction to me. This is a very Beautiful car and drives very nice, it probably needs to be driven more, which is the reason for selling. I would consider this car, on a scale of 1 - 10, a solid 8. I would not consider it a show car, as I have show cars and know what is expected when you use that term. However this car has won and placed in several local car shows. Ther is a minor chip on the driver door edge, and a small abrasion where the hard top has been installed a few times, very unoticable, but does affect what I consider a show car quality. All in all it is a grat car that looks and drives great, and always gets noticed when driving. I reget selling it, but with 5 cars, and another purchase on the way, I really need the room. Good Luck and thanks for looking. Successful bidder will be reuired to make $ 1,000 deposit within 48 hours of auction end, and complete the financial transaction within 5 days.
