Vehicle Detail
This is a true European model sold new in Italy then brought to America. It has a custom ordered color combo with the interior that was ordered by the Italian owner from Mercedes Benz in Germany. The gauges are in meters. It has a little less than 122,000 kilometers which converts to about 75,807 miles. It has competed in the Pacific Grove Historic Car Rally in Pebble Beach for provenance. All major work that needed to be done on this car has been done such as brakes, front end, suspension. I have all the receipts. All work that I had done on the car was performed by Beverly Laurel Auto in North Hollywood. They specialize in classic Mercedes cars. This car was also special ordered with a sunroof making it very rare. European models had powered sunroofs and manual windows. It also has more chrome than the American version along with European head lights while also being equipped with fog lamps. It has a dual overhead cam engine with a 4 bbl carb. It has a floor pedal controlled windshield wiper system plus the wiper control on the steering column arm. The car has its original Italian owners manual. The spare and tool kit are still in the trunk. A previous owner outfitted the car with a Nardi wood steering wheel with chrome tri spoke center.(the car is being sold with a Nardi center hub not the Mercedes one pictured as that was a gift to me from my mechanic...I have another car it will go in sorry) It has an automatic transmission. It is a blast to drive and certainly garners its fair share of attention. It is a very, very solid car throughout. I have left the original Italian plates on it that start with BZ which is the province of Bolzano in Northern East Italy. The man I bought the car from told me about the Italian family he bought the car from. After the owner of the car died his son would come and start the car. This upset the sons mother as the car has a unique tone to the exhaust. She told the son to please sell the car as she could not stand to hear it any longer. I then bought it from the man who purchased it from the family. Please email me with questions. I have owned the car since 2005. You will not find another one like it. It has normal wear and tear for a car with 75K on it. There is a very minor normal crack on the top of the dash and the top of the headliner has a small tear on the drivers side. Otherwise the condition of the interior and seats is very, very nice. The paint has its normal dings and scratches. It is not immaculate but this car is a very beautiful daily driver. I think you can enjoy it for a long time as is without having to do anything other than regular maintenance. The car does not have AC which is typical for a european model especially one with a rarely ordered sunroof. You can without a doubt fly in and drive this car home. I will end the auction early if anyone wants to make a deal. I will enterain all reasonable offers. I have nearly 15K in this car so offers of 10K or less are not even worth your time to send fyi. These cars are only going up in value and a Euro coupe with a sunroof is a rare find indeed. Interesting fact...The Mercedes-Benz logo is one of the most famous brands in the world. The Benz logo is a simplistic three-pointed star that represents its domination of the land, the sea, and the air. The famous three-pointed star was designed by Gottlieb Daimler to show the ability of his motors for land, air and sea-usage. It was first seen on a Daimler in 1909, and was combined with the Benz laurel wreath in 1926 to signify the union of the two firms. Mercedes-Benz is the world's oldest automobile manufacturer.
