1982 Honda CBX

Salvage

This is a legendary machine, the Honda CBX. The "buzzin' half-dozen." The big six. etc, etc, etc. This bike was being towed on a trailer about 3 years ago when it was hit in the middle of the night by a Semi driver who fell asleep. The bike has sat for three years. The engine is not frozen, but the gas in it is bad, so it won't start, but it really wants to. The starter and alternator are fine , but the battery will not hold a charge and will probably have to be replaced. Originally, I had bought another frame and the other body parts to restore this bike back to its original glory, but I don't have the time or the know-how to get this done. Just after I got it back for the insurance company, I did start it and ride it, and everything works as it should. Even up above 70 mph, I could feel no vibration at all, everything seemed nice and smooth. I had even toyed with making it a cafe custom, as the saddlebags are hard to find, although the original ones are included, however they are not functional. I have not one but two sets of bag mounting hardware, the original set and another one that i bought on ebay a couple years ago. As you can see in the picture, the frame also has the rider hand grips and rear fender cover (from a 1981) installed. There is also another inner rear fender. The tires on teh bike are Metzlers, and have less than a hundred miles on them. The other frame does not come with a title, only a bill of sale. I am confident that the bike would pass inspection once reassembled, and that the only reason the bike was totaled out was because of the expense of finding the OEM parts again. Just before the accident, the speedometer stopped working, and the mileage on it is 19,XXX. There are three gels missing from the gauge set, both turn signals, and hi beam lights. The tach works fine, but has no cable, as I used it on my other CBX. I just didn't want this one to slowly be cannibalized by my other CBX, which I am also selling in a few weeks. You can see from the pictures that it also is missing the left mirror. I have a seat and a rear cowl (red, not sure why it was painted red). It has Kerker exhaust, and it really roars when it runs. I loved this bike so much, I know that whoever buys it will love it as well. Shipping will be a problem, I guess that pick-up in person would work best. I know what this is, I am not going to give it away, so please don't low-ball me with $300 or something like that. If it doesn't sell, I will just put it up on craigslist and move it that way.
