PLEASE DON'T ASK THE RESERVE. I AM HAPPY TO CONSIDER ALL OFFERS THOUGH. THANKS. 1963 CATALINA POLICE CAR CLONE! First off let me just be specific in saying that I don't believe this ever was a real police car. It is a factory radio delete car and does have original dog dish hubcaps with black rims but I still don't think the car was ever a police car. That said, this is a neat looking car and will be a lot of fun to cruise and take to car shows. It has a rebuilt 389 V-8 with a rebuilt auto. Low miles on the rebuilds and the paint still looks newer on the engine. It runs excellent. Here are all the details on car. MECHANICAL: The catalina has a 389 2-V engine that is most likely the original. It comes with the original air cleaner and valve covers which were on it when I purchased it. If there is a way to match the numbers on this car, I can check them if that is a concern for you. The engine runs excellent and always starts. No blue smoke. No knocks or ticks. It runs cool and doesn't overheat. No oil leaks that I've noticed. The choke works as it should. The engine and transmission look clean and I haven't washed them since I've owned it. They would look fresh if washed and there is no sludge buildup whatsoever. The transmission works great with no slippage or abnormal noises. This is a 3-speed auto, not a 2-speed. The brakes work fine. The pontiac has powersteering and manual brakes. All of the lights work on the car except the interior, which may just need a bulb. The lighter, fuel gauge, speedometer, turnsignals, heater, etc. work. The car drives nice and the tires are in good shape. It has good power and will smoke the tires easily. The car could easily have considerably more power with some easy bolt-ons (cam/intake/headers/ignitions/etc.). The exhaust is a stock type system and is quiet. No holes or loud leaks. The catalina does need shocks in a bad way. It's driveable as-is for city driving but it will need shocks as soon as possible. I drove it about 55mph but didn't want to get it up too fast because it floats and bounces due to the bad shocks. It drove straight and the frontend felt tight. I'm sure it would do 100 mph easily. It has nice highway gearing. There were no vibrations or anything weird when driving. Very smooth. The tires are decent and have lots of life left. Overall this car is very mechanically sound. I would drive it anywhere with no worries. A VIDEO OF THE ENGINE RUNNING CAN BE SEEN AT THIS LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8mPGo9Z_U0 INTERIOR: The interior in this car is all stock and in clean condition. It is mostly original though and is showing some wear of a 47 year old car. The dash and gauge area is in nice shape. Dashpad has no cracks. The headliner is in good shape and very usable. All the door panels are usable and look good but have the usual wear. The carpet is new. The seats are the originals and are usable, but have rips/wear in the upholstery a little. Overall the interior is in decent shape for an un-restored car. I would personally put a set of seat covers in it and drive it as-is. BODY: The body is not perfect, but solid overall. I have looked it over well and see no rust except the trunk pan. The trunk pan is rusted through in spots. It is usable the way it is but I would get a new trunk mat. I can send a picture of the trunk to you if you wish. I can get a new trunk pan installed for you for a very reasonable price by a very skilled bodyman. I have a pic of the trunk I can send if you'd like. The paint is ok, but not perfect. It looks good though for what it is. NO signs of bondo or collision damage anywhere. NO "wavy" areas from previous damage. No cracking bondo. I've went over it with a magnet to look for bondo and found none. There is a ding on the hood and one on the passenger front fender. These are not major and are easy repairs. The glass is all nice and the windshield looks newer. All windows and doors work properly. All locks work. Hood and trunk open/close properly. Overall, the body is very solid. OVERALL: This is a fun and affordable cruiser. You can get stickers made to your liking in many different styles and they're cheap. There are also many different kinds of vintage lights and sirens sold online and ebay. Thanks and happy bidding. READ THE PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. Feel free to make an offer if you want the car but don't bid if your not sure that you want it. THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD AS-IS WITH NO WARRANTY. I TAKE A LOT OF TIME TO GET ALL THE DETAILS AND THE CAR IS DESCRIBED AS I SEE IT. MY LISTINGS ARE MORE COMPREHENSIVE AND HAVE MORE DETAILS THAN THE MAJORITY OF ITEMS ON EBAY. IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT I WILL MISS EVEN A SMALL DETAIL, BUT IT IS POSSIBLE. THANKS. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU AREN'T SURE OR DON'T HAVE THE MONEY. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR AND MY TIME. SAVE US ANY TROUBLES AND JUST DON'T BID IF YOU ARE NOT A SERIOUS BUYER. THANK YOU. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.
