Vehicle Detail

Here is a 1967 Buick Skylark Gran Sport 400 Convertible. It has the correct serial number for a GS 400 convertible, which is 446677. It has a 455, a switch pitch 400 Super Turbine trans, and a 2.96 10 bolt positraction rear. It has a power top, which works fine, and power steering and power finned drum brakes. It also has buckets and console, with tachometer, and factory AM/FM radio, with new 10 ohm speaker. It also has what was an option on the GSs, a Corvette steering wheel. I put a vette horn button on it since it needed one, but it should have a buick button. It came on the car. I do not know if it was original. This is not a laser straight, numbers matching, 1000 point show car. I had a Shelby like that...It was no fun. This car is fun! It is a joy to drive. It looks great. It rides very well. (It is a Buick). It handles very well, for a 1967. And...It goes like stink. This Gran Sport is equipped with an .030- over 1971 455 from a Baltimore built car, which means it is very likely a Gran Sport engine. The block, heads, and intake are all 71. The transmission has been rebuilt at some time, as it is painted Aamco blue. This car runs VERY well for something with a 2.96 gear. You can hardly feel the cam at idle, but it pulls strong through the low and mid-range. The odometer reads 79 thousand. I do not know if it is the actual mileage. That is what it reads. In 2005, at 60 thousand miles the car received the following; 1. The engine was completely rebuilt. It was bored, decked, got cam bearings, the crank was cut .010/.010, The rods were checked, etc.. It got new; pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump, water pump, timing chain, Comp Cams cam and lifters, pushrods, rocker shaft assemblies, valve springs and seals, and new intake valves. A carburetor was assembled using a 67 430 base, to have the right throttle linkage for the trans, and a 72 455 body. A curved HEI supplies spark. It got new hoses and belts. 2. The interior was completely gutted, and the front half of the floor was replaced, at the rocker spot welds, with a donor piece from a GS. It is not obvious. All of the interior metal was painted, the dash was restored, new window fuzzies, weatherstrip on the doors and quarter windows. The interior sparkles. The seat covers, though nice, are not 67 Buick pattern. It got a new antenna, base and bezel. 3. The frame was replaced with a rust free, cleaned and painted GS boxed frame. It got new body bushings as well, and a 69 GTO steering box. The trunk was also repaired at the right body mount, and detailed. 4. The engine compartment was detailed. The brakes were done, and the radiator was rodded. Trans was serviced. It got 5 wheels detailed and 4 new tires. This car then went 20.000 miles with virtually no problems. Within the last 1,000 miles it has received; oil change, spark plugs, brake check and wheel bearing repack. Urethane sway bar end bushings, new oem style front shocks, lower ball joints, boxed rear control arms and sway bar, new tail pipes, fuel pump, power steering hose, windshield washer pump, convertible top to windshield weatherstrip, 10 ohm speaker, front carpet and more. The car looks great, the paint, though not perfect, is very shiny. There are a couple of small bubbles coming up. One on the left rear wheel well. and one on the bottom rear of the passenger door. There are a few very small ones also. There is a small spot on the hood where someone had too long of a carb stud. It is not too noticable. The rest looks pretty good. The clock does not work. The tachometer sometimes does not work. Everything else works fine. This car is a blast to drive. Truth be told, I would rather keep it. This car draws more attention than just about any car I have owned. I am constantly getting comments wherever I take it. It also comes with a top boot. Buick made 1628 auto trans, and 422 manual trans Gran Sport 400 Convertibles in 1967. They were rare then. You hardly ever saw one. Today, 43 years later, how many are left? Maybe a couple hundred? Here is a unique opportunity to own an extremely rare, very fast, very nice, very smooth, very cool convertible. I almost forgot. This car has starred in its own feature film. It has the title and co-starring role in the DVD, "The Daylight Pace Car". It is a 42 minute railfan video, where we chase a 1941 Art Deco shrouded Steam Locomotive. I will include a new copy of the DVD. Try googling "daylight pace car"
