M code 351 4V automatic, air conditoning, power steering, power brakes, traction lock differential, tinted glass, console, rim blow steering wheel, rally clock and trip odomedor, rally dash with tachometer. Purchased by the orignal female owner on June 5, 1969 from Stickland Motors, Inc. of Indianapolis, Indiana. She owned the car for about 30 years until her death. She was a very merticuolous owner who took exceptional care of the car. She kept all the orignal paperwork including the window sticker, bill of sale, warranty cards, owners manual (signed by Edsel Ford, Jack Nassar and William Ford). I have all of the orignal documentation. In her almost 30 years of ownership she put 31,000 mile on the car. When she passed away in 1997 the estate sold the car to Bud Wolf Chevrolet in Indianapolis, Indiana. They listed the car for sale in Hemmings Motor News. It was then sold to the President of the International Mercury Owners Association. The car had 36,000 miles on it when I purchased it from him in 2002. He had the original color repainted. When Ford reintroduced the Mercury Cougar in 1998 they wanted the best examples of Mercurys to be included in the marketing campaign. This Cougar Eliminator was chosen as the most outstanding representation of a Cougar Eliminator and it participated in the marketing campagin. Photos were taken by Ford of this Cougar Eliminator outside the Ford Mansion. I have those orignal photos. This Cougar Eliminator was on display at the 2010 Detroit Autorama. Although this car is in beautiful condition in every way, it has not been restored. It has had one repaint only. When I purchased the car I changed the belts, hoses and wires and it has a new exhaust system. I put the dealer installed factory correct Magnum 500 wheels with Firestone wide oval tires on the car. I still have the original Ford factory wheels and spare that came with the car and they will be included with the car. The Am/Fm radio was replaced with an Am/Fm radio with CD. I put a set of Shelby Cobra value covers on. I also have the original value covers which will come with the car. It has the original chrome and interior. When I purchased the car the radiator shroud had a caution sticker on it which was faded. I replaced this sticker. The white stripe on the rear spoiler was added. This stripe was on 1970 Cougars and I added it to this 1969. It can be removed if you so desire. This is NOT a body off restoration car, not a trailer queen, but an incredible original driver.
