Vehicle Detail
This is a silver (Champaign) '99 BMW K1200LT (K1200 LT) touring bike with currently only 5675 miles on it. - It may be slightly higher when it sells as I'm hoping to get in a last ride or two. - This is the "Custom" version, which is the highest trim level. It has everything the "Standard" and "Icon" versions have, plus chrome highlights. Some of the features of this bike are: - 1200cc, in-line 4 cylinder engine which produces 100 Bhp and 85 lb-ft of torque - Liquid cooled, 4-stroke motor, with 16 valves and DOH - 5 speed transmission with reverse and gear indicator on dash board - 60 amp, 840 w alternator (similar output to most cars) which is capable of charging all of your accessories - ABS II, anti-lock braking system - 6.2 gallon fuel tank which provides a range of approx 300 miles between fill-ups - Full fairing to keep the elements off when you get caught in even the worst of riding conditions - Electronic, height adjustable windshield (can be adjusted on the fly) - Air wings that can be adjusted to allow a lot of air flow or keep air almost completely off of the rider - Plush, soft leather seat which is height adjustable (two settings to make even very tall riders comfortable) - VERY comfortable for even the longest trips - Cassette player and 6-disc CD changer with driver and passenger controls for volume - Heated seats and heated hand grips with low and high settings - Electronic cruise control - 2 "Powerlet" power outlets - one each for the driver and passenger - Full gages (clock, gear indicator, speed, odometer, trip odometer, tach, engine temp, fuel level); and - Full idiot lights (neutral indicator, engine temp, voltage, oil pressure, ABS) - Onboard computer which shows: Outside air temp, fuel economy (MPG), distance until the tank is empty, average speed traveled - Digital clock - Trunk (tour pack) and saddle bags are hard sided and lockable - Lockable storage compartment on the fuel tank I currently have a loan on the bike which needs to be paid off. The bank currently holds the title. I will give you a Bill of Sale for the bike until the bank can get the title to you. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I've been getting swamped with questions and have had trouble keeping up with my email. They all seem to be pretty much the same, so I've come up with a generic reply to them. Hope this answers your questions, but if not please let me know.... First, I want to sell the bike to clean up my garage and my financial life. I am, however, not desperate to sell it. I wont consider low-ball offers or trades for your jet ski's, old trucks, muscle cars, etc. If the bike doesn't sell before winter, then I'll decide in the spring whether I want to keep it another year or sell it. About the bike itself. I am not the original owner. I bought it earlier this summer with the intent of going on a cross-country trip with some friends. The trip never happened and I find that I don't ride as much as I thought I would. This is my first BMW. I don't know much about the way it rides compared to how it "should" ride, but based on other bikes I've had it seems normal and in great shape. As far as I know it's never been wrecked or dropped and is mechanically and cosmetically very good to excellent condition. I don't know if the tires are original, but they have (I'm guessing) about 1/2 of the tread left on them. You wont be disappointed. The only issues I've found are:(1) I think the rear brake pads need to be replaced. The pedal feels spongy and when pressed it slows the bike but not like it should. The front works great and when I ride I primarily use the front, but this should be looked at.(2) There is sometimes a hesitation when accelerating. It starts, idles, and otherwise runs great. At highway / constant speeds it runs perfectly, Because of the low miles, I assume the bike sat for a while and the fuel system may need to be cleaned.* I haven't taken it to a mechanic to have either of these things looked at, so it's my best guess what's actually going on.(3) There is a small scuff on the right saddle bag. It looks like a passenger probably caught it with their heel when getting off the bike. It's noticeable, but doesn't "jump out at you". Overall, considering price range, age, and mileage, I would rate it a "9" on a 1-10 scale. You won't be disappointed with it. For a cheap purchase price and a few dollars in repairs, you will have a bike that will last many, many years. Regarding payment:I stated that the bank has the title because that may be a concern for a few of you. This is common when buying a used vehicle. We can work this one of three ways:(1) You send payment to me and I pay-off the loan and send you the title ASAP. In the mean time I'll send you a bill of sale so you can get a temp tag.(2) You can send payment directly to my bank. They'll pay off the loan and deposit the excess amount in my account. They'll send you the title after they process everything.** It works basically the same either way - just depends on what you're more comfortable with.(3) If you're local, you can go with me to the bank and we can do the deal in person. I'm not positive, but I think you'll still have to wait for the title. With any of these options, the funds must be either cash or a certified check from your bank. If you send a certified check either myself or my bank will verify that it's real before depositing the money and releasing the bike. Even certified checks can be faked and my bank has warned all account holders to be cautious. Hope this covers all of the questions - if I've missed something, please let me know.
