You are bidding on a 1978 Honda CX500 Deluxe. The design included innovative features and technologies that were uncommon or unused at the time such as liquid cooling, electric-only starting, low-maintenance shaft drive, modular wheels, and dual CV-type carburators that were tuned for reduced emissions. The engine design combines a 10.0:1 compression ratio and 9,650 rpm redline with overhead valves and a camshaft nestled at the base of the V between the cylinders. There are four overhead valves per cylinder, with unique forked rocker arms acting off each pushrod. The engine runs well on 87 octane petrol. It delivers nearly 50 hp (37 kW) at 9,500 rpm with high low-speed torque characteristics. The cylinder bores are cast in the crankcase which many examples have gone 200,000 miles or more without any major engine work. This bike starts and runs well. All signals and lights work flawlessly. There is a couple items that are damaged as seen in the photo, one is the dents on the fuel tank and the rear luggage rack has broken welds and when you grab the rack it will move up and down freely. The rear tire is in good shape however the front will need replaced soon due to the weather cracking. The exhaust is aftermarket and sound as close to stock as possible, very quiet. The bike has engine gaurds installed as well. There is a Hondaline backrest that comes with the bike (not installed). This would be a great starter bike or even a daily commuter.
