Vehicle Detail

63 1/2 Ford Galaxie XL500 in very good condition. Repainted the original color, known as Viking Blue Metallic. Landau top (vinyl) add in 1963 when originally purchased. The vehicle was restored in 2006. The restoration included power disc brakes, all new seals in the transmission (complete tear down/overhaul), all new gaskets and seals in the motor (including repaint), removed and polished all chrome and stainless when painted, to include windows, re-chromed front and rear bumpers and added after market fender skirts. The car is completely original, for the exception of the disc brakes. This vehicle was purchased originally by Mr. Bill and Jacqueline Owens of San Fernando, CA in May of 1963 from Galloping Ford in San Fernando Valley, CA. The car remained with Bill until he sold it to his daughter (Sharon Heaslip) in 1997. After Sharon's battle with cancer and her death, Bill bought it back from her estate in 2000. In 2004, Bill sold me the vehicle. Bill was like a father to me and I was like a son to him. I worked for Bill and Jackie at Owens Brothers and Service in San Fernando Valley, CA from 1967 to 1971. Bill and Jackie remained close to me until their death. Jackie passed away in 2002 and Bill in 2009. Once in my possesion and giving the vehicle a "face lift and a bell tuck" in 2006, I had it appraised in January of 2007 by Allied Appraisal Service out of Fresno, CA. At that time, the appraisal came back at $16,750.00. The mileage at the time of the appraisal was 19,999. All miles are original. Since the appraisal, I've added the front disc brakes and resealed motor and transmission. I have the appraisal in hand as well as most registrations. Codes show the following: Code 3 is a 1963, Code J assembled in Los Angeles, Code 68 is a Galaxie 500XL 2-Door Fastback, Code Z is 8Cyl. 390 CID, Horsepower:330, Carbs: 1-4BBL, Compression:10.1:1+. Serial number: 156840. Look at the license plate: Here's the history behind it! Bill had had a friend at DMV and they knew that they were fans of President Kennedy so they found the plate "IDK390" which stands for "I Dig Kennedy and 390 for the motor". Bill always talked about how he obtained that plate.
