The mechanics have performed great and I have enjoyed driving it as my daily driver. The Interior to the Exterior on this Explorer looks Fantastic, I really could not ask for more in an SUV. The AC blows Ice Cold, The Engine Feels Strong and Powerful, The Transmission Shifts Smoothly, The Radio Sounds Great, The Seats are Comfortable, and then some! Exterior: The overall appearance of this SUV is very Nice! With the Classy Medium Wedge Wood Blue Clearcoat Metallic Exterior. This primary body color is accented with beautiful touches of silver, black, and chrome. You will find the primary body color is a gorgeous Blue with Gray lower body accent panels. This silver accent is a nice offset without being too overbearing and is classy not tacky. Black accents continue with Dark Factory Tinted Windows, Rear Bumper, and Roof Rails. This Ford Explorer XLT has the full roof rails and cross bars. This is nice so if you want to haul any items on the roof, the cross bars are already present. Chrome Accents are abundant. There are Factory Alloy Wheels, Front Chrome Looking Grille, and Explorer Badges. Also, notice there are parking sensors on this Explorer. These are so helpful, its one of those things that you don't realize how much you count on it until you don't have it anymore! It will beep at you to indicate proximity to items behind you. The beeps become more rapid as you near objects. This Explorer is riding on a set of Factory Alloy Wheels. The Wheels are Beautiful 16" Alloy Wheels. The tires are in Good Condition, they just passed VA State Inspection that is valid until 10-2011. The exterior styling of this SUV is Awesome! The lines are aggressive, the overall look is large and in my opinion this SUV is what an SUV should look like. The front headlights are large and have sharp crisp angles. The headlights are clear and clean. The side view looks really great with the tinted windows and black roof rails. The door handles are painted to match the body color to create a more expensive and streamlined look. Notice the lower body molding is a Gray color. Again, This coordinating color scheme looks Awesome! This Ford Explorer even looks good from the back. The hatch can open in one piece or in 2 pieces. You can either let the window stay open for a nice breeze or you can open the whole thing. The back hatch is undamaged. I see lots of Explorers and Mountaineers that have cracks in the back hatch, but this one is damage free and looks great! This makes it super convenient to load and unload stuff and cargo. The rear bumper is Gray and has black non skid for easy stepping. The rear tinted window has its own wiper washer and defrost. There is also a tow hitch with light hook up. This Explorer has remote side view mirrors. The tinted windows add a nice touch to the SUV. This Explorer has fully remote locks. There are two sets of keys with remote key fobs and an exterior door key pad. I do notice that one of the fobs is not working and I assume it just needs a battery. There is a number pad on the driver side door. This is used to lock and unlock the vehicle without the key or the key fob. Press the combination once to unlock the driver door. Press the last digit of the 5 digit code again to unlock all the doors. Press the last two digits at the same time to lock the doors. I just love this exterior key pad. When I go to the gym, out for the night with a very small purse, or even while in my office at work, I don't have to worry, fumble with, or keep up with my car keys. I know they are waiting patiently for me in the car. Plus, have several people in your household, you don't have to hear anyone asking where the keys are to get something out the suv, they can just use the keypad and get their items out without hassle. Very cool! The front of this Explorer is very commanding. The headlights are clear and clean. There is a front license plate holder for the states that require it. I did notice a small door ding on the driver side rear door, no bigge and pretty usual wear. Other than this, there is no noteworthy wear on this SUV. You may find a little scuff on a bumper or a small chip from road rash on the front, but really there is no exterior damage to take away from the overall look of this SUV. There is a small chip in the windshield, but is not dangerous and passed inspection. This Ford Explorer is riding on a very nice set of Factory Alloy wheels and 235/70/R16 tires with plenty of tread left. There is very minimal if any curb chew on these Wheels. Overall the Condition of this Ford is Great!! For a 2002 model is looks far better than what I would expect with these miles. I had to take a very close look to notice any imperfections on the exterior. ****I noticed a few tiny dings/scratches and one longer one on the rear driver side, but like I said I had to do a close inspection to notice them. The color combination looks classy and the amenities make this truck practical for every day use and Enjoyment. Interior: The Interior of this SUV looks Really Good! Just like on the outside, the interior continues with a neutral color combination of Gray with Black Accents. The seats are done in High Quality Leather Interior that holds up very well and the color is good at concealing stains. With all power options, CD player, and plenty of room, this 2002 Ford Explorer XLT covers all the basics and then some for a nice ride. The front seats individual captain seats. These seats are very large and comfortable. The front seats have high backs for added comfort and stability and large cushions for added leg support. A large lower cushion increase leg support and thus makes for an suv that is easier to drive. This full leg coverage reduces drive fatigue. These seats are both fully Power. You will find complete power options including power height, tilt and front to back. There are also controls for recline for even more comfort. The Power amenities include power windows, door locks, and mirrors. The windows have 1 touch power down driver side. There are also child lock protection for the passenger windows to help protect rear seat riders. All these controls are located at your fingertips on the driver side door. All the writing on all the interior knobs is bright white and easy to read. Notice you also have a large cubby on the bottom for storage on both front doors. Integrated into this cubby are large cup holders. This is a great feature and one I don’t know how much I will enjoy until I actually drive a car for a few days. This cup-holder makes it easier to handle a busy lifestyle. One of the things I like about this Explorer is that the lower panel of the door is hard so that if you push it open with your foot, you don't damage anything. Being small, and normally trying to carry too many items at once, this is very helpful for me. The steering wheel is*** leather. The wheel has the cruise controls on it for easy access. This is very convenient and increase safety as you are less distracted while driving. No reason to divert your attention from the road in front of you. You also have the instrument panel with all the standard gauges, digital odometer and outside temp. The center console is loaded with features at your fingertips. You have an audio system that leaves nothing overlooked. There is an in dash CD player, cassette and a digital tuner system. The speakers sound great. Just below you have the climate control. The AC is Icy cold and the heat is cozy. You will also notice that to the right on the center console are your 4WD controls. Having these buttons at your fingertips makes any terrain super easy to navigate! The floor console houses a rubber lined cubby and pen holder. Things in this area do not slide around. There are also 2 sturdy built in cup holders, an ac adaptor and a smaller cubby. The padded armrest opens up for even more storage. You get a lighted glove box with Owners manual in this Ford Explorer. There is also 2 sets of keys and key fob. The 2nd row of seats is very convenient. You can seat 3 adults here. This bench is a 60/40 split. You can fold each seatback down in any combination you like. On the back of the center console here you have fan control and 2 pull out cup holders and another AC adaptor. The back folds down flat. You will find cup holders as well. The rear cargo area can be as big or as small as you want to make it. It is carpeted and has tie downs. There is a netted cargo cubby in the side. There is also a small storage cubby that recesses into the floor. You can haul a lot of stuff with all of the seats down in this SUV. This rear cargo area is very practical. There are two large floor mounted cargo areas. As shown in the pics above. There is also another storage cubby on the driver side, below the netted area. Just in front of this is a cup holder. Overall the Interior Condition is really nice. It does not appear to have been abused. Whoever had this Ford before took very good care of it. Again, for the age and miles on this Explorer, I would expect more wear. All of the seating surfaces look great with no rips, tears. There is some wear on the driver's floor mat, that you can obviously see in the above pictures. I notice that the handle to the first cargo storage bin, as showin the photo above, sometimes pops off. It snaps back on and stiff fuctions and is not cosmetically affected, but just want to mention that I noticed it. The rear hood struts are strong and supportive and hold the hatch up without issue. The inside of this SUV is much nicer than I would expect for the years and miles. It looks great, smells great, and is free from any significant damage. I would say this was not a family SUV from the lack of wear and I would also say that pets have never been transported in this SUV. Under the Hood: This 2002 Ford Explorer has the ultimate combination. With a 4.0L V6 engine you never want for power and the 4WD lets you go wherever you want. The engine is powerful and operates exactly as it should. The transmission shifts smoothly and also operates exactly as it should. There is a factory tow package so you can take what you want with you when you go. This SUV has no excuses at all. The steering is easy and the brakes are smooth with no pulsating. Mechanically this Ford is in as good a condition as anyone could ever ask for. There are many more miles to driven on this Explorer! Driving Impressions: I have been personally driving this 2002 Ford Explorer every day. Since I knew I was going to be driving this car everyday, I took it into our shop when we first got it and had any and all needed repairs done. I have a window switch replaced because it would stick occasionally. I also had a new set of windshield wipers installed. With just a few minor repairs, this Explorer is great! I love driving it because it is not too big to park or maneuver, yet big enough to get everything in it that I need. It has a commanding view of the road which makes it easy to drive.
