Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500. This car is a nice solid driver. It needs paint and body work to be a all around great car again. This car was originally a 6 cyl. 3-speed car, no options car, but it had dealer installed A\C. I bought this car from a guy who deals in older cars. He had a copy of the Missouri tile and it was said the milage was true to what the odometer read.I can't find the copy now but I still have the Missouri plate that was on the car. I belive the milage to be true by what I have seen and know about this car in 8 years I have owned it. At the time I was looking for nice 1964 Galaxie and was having no luck. I came across this one and it was so solid that I could not pass it up. I had it about a year and came across a 1966 LTD that was to far gone to save but it was a 390, auto, A\C car. So I got the idea to transplant it into this car. The frame on this car is rock solid which can be a problem area for this year Galaxies. It shows some signs of being fix at some point earlier in its life from a accident to the left rear of the car but is solid and straight. The trunk area is the worst area of the car The trunk floor is ok but is starting to show some rust. The trunk opening area is the worst shown in the pictures But I have a solid rust free panel to replace it with included with the car. Ther is a truck load of extra parts included with the sale of this car if the new owner wants them all. Included is a good hood,XL /LTD diecast grille, good front and rear bumpers,a good gas tank, a good passenger side front fender a dash gauge assembly from a A\C car, 2 am radios,2 tail light assemblies ,2 head light assemblies, wiring harnesses, and misc. other small parts too many to list. The trunk lid has a good dent in it shown in the photos I was going to replace it with a good one I found locally so I didn't have put to much time in to fixing the one on the car but never got around to getting it. It is still there and I can tell the new owner where it is at.I showed in the pictures all of dents and rust spots in the car, it also has some small door dings and what not with a car that is 44 years old. The car is other wise rock solid. The floor pans, rockers, doors, front fenders, and the passenger side rear quarter panel are solid. This Galaxie still has 75% of its orignal paint. It is getting thin in spots but buffed out very nicely for a car of this age.It looks good from 50 feet and people comment on the color all of the time. The trunk lid and divers side quarter panel were repainted and blended in to repair some accident damage at some point in the cars past. This Galaxie has a rebuilt 390 engine and a rebuilt C-6 transmission. The engine runs super, the way Ford should have built it.The transmission has been rebuilt and updated with parts from a later C-6 to take care of the weaker frist year C-6 parts. It has a shift kit installed and has nice frim shifts. The engine has a Edelbrock cam installed, hi .vol oil pump, windage tray, S-code Ford 4 Barrel intake, and a holley 600 cfm carb. with electric choke.I installed new tires on the car 7 years ago and they might have 1000 miles on them. The fuel trank was cleaned out by a local shop before I bought it. I installed a new fuel line in it shortly after I bought it. The brake system was completely gone threw when I bought this car with new hardware, drums turned, new brake shoes, wheel bearing repacked and new seals installed. I also replaced the sway bar links at that time too.The A\C compressor was rebuilt after I bought the car and was set up to use 134a coolant but I never charged it up. I don't think it would take to much more then that to get it working again. The interior is in great orignal shape. I put a dash cap on the dash and dyed it to match the interior. The carpet is faded but in great shape. The door panels and seats have no tears in them and look very good. The kick panels look good and the head liner is in great shape. This is a great car. I drive it to cruise nights all over the area some 50 to 60 mile round trips and it runs super. It is Fun to drive and comfortable. I don't see many of these around much either which I like too. It never fails to get complements even in it's unrestored condition.I've had people tell me leave it the way it is because it unrestored and still looks pretty good. I'm selling this car because I've gotten the bug to look for something else and some extra cash would be handy too. I have a stack of receipts for everthing I did to this car and will give them to the new owner. I reserve the right end this auction early because I also have the car for sale locally. The new owner is responsible for pick up or shipping cost. I might be willing to store the car for a little while so that the new owner can arrange pickup or shipping. I would not have any problem driving this car for a 200 mile trip but it is 44 years old and anything can happen with a car of this age.
